🎖️🎖️🎖️ Gen. Ouch Boontanont, Commander-in-Chief, and Air Force Commander Gen. Conjure Kantha, co-presided over the opening ceremony to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the entry into service of the Gripen C / D fighter and the Saab 340 AEW & C air control and alert aircraft.
🛫 The event features a squad flight display of Gripen C / D and Saab 340 AEW & C aircraft, a Gripen fighter flight fitness demonstration, an Air Force mission ordnance display and exhibition, as well as a "Elephant Walk" display, or unison movement of aircraft convoys on taxiways, symbolizing combat readiness, unity, and defense mission potential. The flight display is held over a 15-nautical-mile radius around Air Division 7 between 10.30-11.30 a.m. subsequent to training on July 13 and 16, 2026.
Surat Thani Provincial 7 Wing is the Air Force's main base in the Southern Region and is home to the Gripen C / D Fighter Squadron, coupled with a total of 18 Saab 340 AEW & C Air Control and Alert aircraft, which serve to monitor, control and defend Thailand's airspace, as well as support security missions and assistance to the public in various situations.
