That evening, I spread a piece of white paper on the table in the living room.
The house I built last time was about 69.61 ㎡.
This time the land is about 37 m ².
The same house as last time will never be built.
Still, when the four of us surrounded the paper, hope for the future life gradually came out.
I want to make the living room brighter.
"More storage is better."
I want a small place to relax.
And then.
"It would be nice if I could spend holidays slowly at a nearby cafe or walk out to a popular store where there is a line."
I talked to him.
It was not just the floor plan that was written on white paper.
What kind of life do the four of us want to have?
That night, for the first time, we envisioned our future together in our new home.

家族四人で未来の住まいを計画するとき、限られた土地面積は大きな課題となります。私の経験から言うと、土地が約37㎡の狭小住宅では、ただ単に間取りを工夫するだけでなく、住む人全員が何を優先したいかを明確にすることが最も大切です。 例えば、リビングの明るさは空間の広がりを感 じさせるキー要素です。窓の位置や大きさ、自然光の取り入れ方を工夫し、開放感を演出することが快適な暮らしにつながります。また、多めの収納スペースも狭小住宅では必須で、床下収納や階段下収納など、無駄なスペースを極力減らして収納に充てる工夫が効果的です。 そして、狭くてもほっとできる個室やコーナーをつくることもポイントです。ここは家族一人ひとりがリラックスできる場所として、精神的な安らぎをもたらしてくれます。 休日の過ごし方について話し合うことで、地域のカフェや人気店へのお出かけ計画が家族の団らんの時間を増やし、暮らしの質を高める要素になります。家づくりは間取りだけでなく、暮らし方そのものを含めたトータルデザインだと実感しています。 実際に私自身も狭小住宅の経験がありますが、新しい土地には必ず予想外の問題が隠れているもの。だからこそ家族でしっかりと話し合い、意見を出し合いながら未来の家を一緒に描くプロセスがかけがえのない時間です。この過程で育まれる希望と工夫が、最終的に笑顔あふれる我が家へとつながっていきます。
