5 Lessons from Life Barriers That Deepened Job, His Disciples, and We Know God
Obstacles: The Path God Takes to Build Hope
Supporting information
The verses summarize the thematic.
A believer's life is not meant to be without obstacles; on the contrary, God often allows us to face difficulties, to teach us to learn to trust Him more.
1.Storms in Life: When Jesus Was in the Same Boat
(Mark 4: 35-41)
The disciples were caught in a storm so strong that they thought that life was ending, but Jesus was also in the boat, and though he seemed silent, he did not abandon them.
Many times in our lives, we face storms of financial, health, family, or disappointment that we feel that God is silent, but this story teaches us that Jesus' being with us does not mean that there is no storm, but that the storm cannot destroy us.
The storm gives us an opportunity to see the power of God that we have never seen before.
2.Healed: Uncompromising Beliefs
(Mark 5: 21-34)
The bleeding woman suffered for 12 years, losing her health, property and hope, but she refused to let go of her faith.
Just touching the man of Jesus' clothes. Her life changed.
Sometimes our obstacles can be so prolonged that it feels that God has forgotten us, but He never forgets those who seek Him wholeheartedly. God's delay is not a denial, but a time when He is preparing even greater blessings.
3.Job: When not understanding but still believing
(Job 19: 23-27; 23: 8-12)
Job lost property, family, health and honor. He did not understand the reason for the suffering.
Though invisible to God, and unable to find him, Job declared in faith:
"I know that my Redeemer lives."
This is true belief; not believing when everything goes smoothly, but believing even in the darkest days.
Tested beliefs become more stable and deeper beliefs.
4.The Path to Emmaus: Jesus Walks by Our Side
(Luke 24: 13-27)
The two disciples traveled with broken hearts. They thought that hope had ended with Jesus' death.
But while they were desperate, the resurrected Jesus was walking beside them, even though they did not recognize him.
Many times, we may feel that God is far away, but in truth He is walking by our side in every step of life.
As we look back, we will find that He constantly guides us.
5.Seeing Jesus: The Destination of Obstacles
All lessons lead us to the same truth: that obstacles are not meant to destroy us, but to open our eyes to see Jesus more clearly.
The storm made his disciples see his power.
Sickness made the woman touch His grace.
Job's suffering deepened his knowledge of God.
The path of Emmaus shows the disciples the resurrected Jesus.
And obstacles in our lives can do the same thing.
Conclusion
The apostle Paul said,
"The affliction causes endurance, and endurance shows that we are a man available to God, and that it gives hope" (Romans 5: 3-5).
Believers do not live without obstacles, but live with hope among obstacles.
When the storm comes, look for Jesus in the boat.
When pain comes, touch Him in faith.
When you don't understand life's events, hold on like Job.
When walking on the road of disappointment, remember that Jesus is walking beside you.
And one day we will understand that every obstacle that comes through is not meant to destroy our faith, but to bring us to know and see Jesus more clearly.
For for those who love God, "all things together produce good," and the glory that lies before them is greater than any suffering we are facing today.
