✨ Balcony Makeover: Timber Deck ➜ Floor Tiles ✨

One of the most common balcony problems we see is ageing timber decking. Over time, timber can become discoloured, warped, loose, or difficult to maintain.

For this project, we transformed the space by removing the old timber deck and installing floor tiles instead.

🏡 Before:

❌ Weathered timber boards

❌ Uneven surfaces

❌ Higher maintenance requirements

🏡 After:

✅ Modern tiled finish

✅ Easier cleaning and maintenance

✅ More durable for daily use

✅ Brighter and more spacious appearance

💡 Why homeowners choose floor tiles over timber decking:

• Longer lifespan

• Water-resistant

• Easier to maintain

• Wide range of design options

A simple flooring upgrade can completely change the look and feel of your balcony.

Timber decking often suffers from discoloration, warping, and requires regular upkeep like sanding and sealing, especially in humid climates. Switching to floor tiles, particularly wood-look porcelain tiles, offers the aesthetic warmth of timber with added benefits such as resistance to moisture, ease of cleaning, and a more even, safer walking surface. During the renovation, the old decking was carefully dismantled and the floor was prepared to be raised slightly, ensuring proper alignment and drainage. Tiles are available in various designs and finishes, allowing customization to suit personal style while maintaining durability against daily wear. Regular sweeping and occasional mopping keep tiled balconies looking fresh without the hassle of chemical treatments needed for timber. For sunny and rainy regions like Singapore, tiled flooring helps prevent issues related to rot and mold that timber often faces. This upgrade not only revitalizes the balcony’s appearance but also increases property value by providing a modern, easy-to-maintain outdoor space. If you’re considering a balcony facelift, evaluating floor tiles as an alternative to timber decking could bring long-term satisfaction and reduce maintenance stress, making your balcony a more enjoyable and visually appealing retreat.
