... Read moreHey everyone! So many of you loved meeting my boys, Cooper and Jake, in my last post. I wanted to share a little more about what life is like with these two fluffy white Maltese dogs! Getting Jake was such a game-changer for our family. Cooper, my older boy, adapted so well to having a little brother, and now they're inseparable. Jake, my mischievous four-year-old, is such a character. He brings so much energy to the house with his playful antics. You know I mentioned he's a quarter Korean Maltese? It's fascinating how his lineage gives him such a unique look and personality. He's got this incredibly soft, fluffy coat that definitely requires daily brushing to keep looking pristine, especially after their outdoor adventures!
When we first brought Jake home, Cooper was a bit unsure, but it didn't take long for them to become the best of friends. Watching them cuddle up on their favorite white blanket, just like in that picture, warms my heart every time. They truly complement each other. Cooper, at six years old, is the gentle, wise big brother, often letting Jake initiate play. Jake, on the other hand, is the little instigator, always nudging Cooper for a game of chase or tug-of-war.
Caring for two Maltese dogs means double the love, and sometimes, double the grooming! For anyone thinking about getting a Maltese, especially a fluffy one like Jake or Cooper, be ready for brushing! Their long, silky white hair is beautiful but can tangle easily. I usually give them a bath every two weeks and use a good detangling spray. Regular vet check-ups are also super important to keep these little guys healthy and happy.
One of their favorite things to do is go for short walks around the neighborhood. Jake, despite his smaller size, has such a lively spirit. He loves exploring new smells and meeting other dogs. Cooper is a bit more reserved, but he enjoys his strolls just as much. After a good walk, they both love to nap together, often piling up on each other. It’s the cutest thing!
If you're considering adding a second dog to your family, especially a Maltese, my advice is to go for it! It enriches their lives so much to have a companion. The transition might take a little patience, but seeing Cooper and Jake's bond makes every effort worth it. What about their favorite treats? Jake is absolutely obsessed with anything chicken-flavored, while Cooper is a bit pickier, preferring crunchy dental sticks. Training them has been a fun journey too. Jake, being the younger one, was a quick learner for basic commands, often motivated by those tasty treats! Cooper already knew his commands, and he's a great role model for Jake. It just goes to show how adaptable and intelligent these small dogs can be. Their playful barks and happy tail wags are the soundtrack of my home. Living with these two fluffy white Maltese dogs is genuinely the best. Every day is an adventure, filled with love and laughter. I hope this gives you a better glimpse into our life with Cooper and Jake!
