Forget La Moist, get this instead! 🧁

Tried 小小心意 kueh lapis recently and honestly it’s such a hidden gem compared to the usual La Moist or Diana ones.

Their kueh lapis has that perfect balance, moist but not oily, fragrant with the right amount of spice and not overly sweet so you won’t feel jelak after a few slices. Each layer is baked super evenly, you can tell they put effort into it and my favorite is the Nutella one!

What I love most is how it feels more “homemade", the texture is soft yet dense enough so it's suitable for you to get for your folks back at home.

Also perfect for gifting, since the packaging is simple but classy. Definitely a great alternative if you want something different from the more commercial names out there. They have many outlets so search them up and give them a try!

... Read moreIf you're considering a sweet treat or a memorable gift from Batam, Little Box Premium's kueh lapis is worth exploring beyond just tasting it once. Many might overlook its variety and unique flavors if they only know the more commercial brands like La Moist. Personally, I found the layers baked evenly with care, showcasing craftsmanship that’s rare in mass-produced cakes. The textures blend softness and density in a way that feels like a homemade delight, perfect for sharing with family and friends. During one visit to Batam, I also discovered that Little Box offers several outlets, making their kueh lapis easily accessible whether you're a local or traveler. For those curious about the flavors, the Nutella variant stands out, but other offerings in their menu maintain a balance of spice and sweetness that keeps you coming back for more. Additionally, the packaging’s elegant simplicity brings a touch of class when gifting, making it ideal for casual presents or special occasions. Many reviews online also highlight Little Box Premium’s commitment to quality, fresh ingredients, and authentic local taste, which add to the overall appeal. So next time you’re in Batam or looking for a unique Indonesian kueh lapis, remember that Little Box Premium offers a delightful alternative to typical commercial brands. From my experience, pairing their cake with coffee or tea is perfect for an afternoon treat. Overall, it’s more than just a cake; it’s a shareable experience that speaks of Batam’s rich culinary culture.

Are the lapis cakes made with butter or margarine?
