Philippines - Bali, Indonesia 📍✈️🌎 #travelvlog #backpacking #traveling
Embarking on a nearly 30-hour journey from the Philippines to Bali was quite an adventure filled with unexpected moments and valuable lessons. One thing I learned quickly is that long travel days can be draining, especially when dealing with extended layovers at airports like the one in Manila. The airport isn’t always the best place to rest due to restrictions and limited amenities, so booking a nearby budget hostel to catch a few hours of sleep can be a game changer — even if it’s only 3 to 5 hours of rest. For about $30, we found a surprisingly comfortable and cute hostel that helped us recharge. When traveling with multiple flights in one day, it’s crucial to keep track of check-in times and airport security policies, as they might prevent you from staying inside the terminal for long waits. This means planning ahead for transportation and accommodation outside the airport might be necessary, as it was in our case. Another crucial tip is maintaining energy levels; starting mornings with good coffee and a solid breakfast helped us stay alert. However, hunger can build up quickly during such long travel days, so ordering food delivery through services like Grab while waiting in the hotel is a convenient option. Just keep in mind that delivery can sometimes take an hour, so plan accordingly. One of the highlights of our trip was finally arriving in Bali and experiencing the breathtaking sunset after such an exhausting journey. Although it took several taxi rides to reach our Airbnb, the beautiful scenery made all the travel challenges worthwhile. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, don’t get discouraged by travel hiccups like missed flights or long waits — these are part of the adventure. Lastly, visa procedures at international airports, including Bali, can be a source of stress, so be sure to research the visa requirements ahead of time to avoid surprises. Despite the chaos, the feeling of finally lying in a cozy bed after hours of travel is unmatched. This journey reminded me that travel is not just about the destination, but also about embracing the unpredictable moments along the way.
