I absolutely enjoy arranging flowers and making bouquets!
Yesterday was my favorite coworker’s birthday so I decided to pick up a bunch of roses and create something for her.
(I also made a yellow and white one that I didn’t get a chance to photograph. My director found out I was buying flowers and asked me to pick him up some too and create another one for her. So, I actually made two of these. I would like to say that I really do not like yellow roses. 😩)
Today, I’m thinking of going back to purchase more flowers and make smaller arrangements for our director team. Everyone was so in awe and asking why they didn’t receive flowers for their birthday and I realized that at the end of my shift, people just want to feel that warmth that flowers bring. So, I’ll be arranging flowers most of my shift today! This time I’ll have some students strip the leaves and cut stems for me. They also enjoy arranging them as well.
I work at a school and I’m always making arrangements for security, custodians, office staff. I just love making people smile with random acts of service.

Whether it's crafting a special bouquet for a coworker's birthday or creating simple floral arrangements to brighten a workspace, flowers have a unique power to convey warmth and appreciation. Roses, commonly used in bouquets, symbolize love and gratitude, and their colors hold different meanings—red for passion, white for purity, and yellow often representing friendship or joy, even if not every individual favors them equally.
Engaging students or colleagues in the flower arranging process, such as stripping leaves and cutting stems, transforms this activity into a collaborative and therapeutic experience. It fosters teamwork and encourages creativity while offering moments of mindfulness and relaxation.
In educational or office environments, small acts like giving flowers to custodians, security staff, or administrative teams can enhance workplace morale and show appreciation for all roles contributing to daily operations. Random acts of service paired with the beauty of floral arrangements create memorable expressions of kindness.
For those inspired to start flower arranging, beginning with common flowers like roses, carnations, and daisies can be rewarding. Selecting floral foam, vases, and trimming tools will aid in achieving professional-looking bouquets at home or work.
Ultimately, flower arranging as a pastime enriches not only personal creativity but also strengthens relationships through thoughtful giving. The joy these colorful creations bring is a simple yet profound way to nurture community and spread positivity.
