Bald and Beautiful
When I had to cut my head bald I literally cried. I try my best to let it grow but it hurts. So I keep it bald. I was expecting the worst stares, pointing and people thinking I have cancer. Which I’ve been asked nicely am I in remission. I politely respond no I have scarring alopecia. Which sometimes leads to me explaining what it is. Choosing to wear a bald head proudly is not just about accepting physical appearance but also about embracing vulnerability and strength. It's important to understand that scarring alopecia is not contagious, nor is it linked to cancer, and educating others about it can raise awareness and reduce stigma. Many find that joining online communities or support groups with others experiencing similar conditions provides comfort and encouragement. Personally, removing wigs and hats felt like gaining back control over my identity. Now, I find beauty in baldness and see it as a unique expression of myself rather than a loss. For anyone facing hair loss due to medical or autoimmune reasons, remember this journey is unique, and embracing your appearance is a powerful step toward emotional healing and self-love.
