The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, also known as the Duomo, is Florence's most iconic landmark and a prime example of Renaissance architecture. Construction began in 1296, and it was completed in 1436 with the remarkable dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi. The cathedral's exterior is adorned with beautiful polychrome marble in shades of green, pink, and white, making it a visual feast for visitors. Inside, the vast nave allows for stunning acoustics and an array of art pieces, including frescoes by Giorgio Vasari.
