A Tinder Match That Walked Through Every Chapter

I downloaded Tinder back in 2016, not really looking for love—just hoping to make some new friends. That’s when I came across this guy named Yong. He seemed pretty cool, so I swiped right. Who knew we’d actually match?

Like every other conversation on the app, it started simply: “Hello, nice to meet you.” And from there, we just kept chatting. Since we were both still schooling then, we decided to meet only after our exams ended in December. Coincidentally, his birthday had just passed, so I prepared a small belated birthday present for him. I guess it left a deep impression 🤭

When we finally met, we clicked almost instantly. It was a feeling I had never experienced with anyone else before. He didn’t make me feel awkward at all—instead, he made me feel completely comfortable being myself. I shared all my silly puns, and he laughed with me like we were already long-time friends 🤪

After dinner, we headed to Christmas Wonderland, which had just opened. And wow… I have to say, it added a little extra magic to our very first meeting ✨

From then on, we just wanted to meet more and more. The real deal-breaker came during the New Year’s Eve countdown at USS, when we decided to officially get together. From then, we stayed by each other’s side through every milestone—graduation, National Service, stepping into adulting, working life, and everything in between. We even made a five-year plan to get married if everything worked out 😉

Of course, it wasn’t always smooth sailing. There were ups and downs, and learning how to share our emotions and thoughts was honestly one of the hardest parts for us 😅. But one thing never changed—we never gave up on each other. We always found ways to grow, both as individuals and as a couple.

And here we are now 👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏻‍♂️

I’ll share more about being engaged in my next post—hehe. Till then 💍✨

We used the app to celebrate anniversaries, set goals like our five-year marriage plan, and even coordinate meaningful events like our first Disneyland trip and National Service period. The app’s reminder of upcoming milestones helped us appreciate every moment and grow closer. For those in a long-term relationship, having such a countdown can create a shared sense of anticipation and commitment, making everyday moments special and helping navigate challenges with a united mindset. Sharing these countdowns often sparked conversations about future plans and kept our communication open, which was essential for overcoming our toughest times together.

5 tips on dating in SG, this one is for the girls
1️⃣ “Busy” is not a love language. Everyone here is busy — work, gym, side hustles, friends. But when someone wants to, they’ll find five minutes to text you, or an hour to see you. Don’t romanticise “he’s just tired.” Effort will always fit into a packed schedule. 2️⃣ If he’s serious, you’ll
