I I Ain’t Get The Job BUT Here’s How I Prepared 📝

No I did not get the job I was working so hard to get unfortunately. I was going to make a bunch of depressing posts about it but nahhh. I’m semi over it and a new year is on its way so on to new things hopefully.

But heres a bit of background on how I prepared this time.

🤖 AI

So we have Teams now which came with copilot so I decided to try it out to generate me some practice questions. With this role I couldn’t really use YouTube since this isn’t a popular position. It gave me a good amount so I saved them on my OneNote for future.

✍️ Writing down everything

So I like to write out questions and answers. It just helps me memorize things easier. Also during the interview I will scribble to keep my nerves down.

💡 Check lighting

I recently won a prize from lemon8 which was a selfie light. So I used this just in case they wanted to be on camera. The lighting was amazing but I didn’t need it lol. But before the interview I always check all my equipment to make sure it’s on and working to avoid any hiccups.

And that’s it. Pretty boring right lol. Let me know how you prepare for interviews.

... Read morePreparing for a job interview can be a challenging and often stressful experience, especially when you are aiming for a specialized role like a Business Controls Specialist, which may not have widespread resources available online. Leveraging modern tools like AI-powered applications can provide a unique edge. For instance, Microsoft Teams’ Copilot feature can generate practice questions tailored to your role, helping you simulate the interview environment and focus on relevant topics. Writing down questions and answers is another effective technique. This not only aids memorization but also provides a handy reference during preparation. During the actual interview, scribbling notes can help manage nerves and keep your thoughts organized. These simple habits contribute significantly to building confidence. Another practical tip involves ensuring your technical setup is flawless, especially if your interview is virtual. Checking your lighting beforehand using tools like a selfie light ensures a clear, professional appearance on camera. Testing all equipment—including the microphone, camera, and internet connection—can help avoid unexpected issues that might distract you or reduce your confidence. It’s also useful to prepare answers for common interview topics related to Business Controls roles, such as risk management, compliance, stakeholder communication, analytical skills, and policy implementation. Based on popular practice questions, highlighting experiences like identifying risks, prioritizing communication with stakeholders, and using Excel for data analysis can make your responses stronger and more specific. Remember, even if you don’t land the job this time, documenting your preparation and experiences can be valuable for future opportunities. Keep refining your approach, stay positive, and use every interview as a learning opportunity. Sharing your journey and preparation strategies with others can also build a supportive community that encourages growth and resilience in career development.
