March Reads 📖📖📖

18. Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan

Honestly, when I started this I thought it would lead to a spot on my DNF list. But I powered through and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this journey. The writing is entirely too wordy for me and pretentious, but I think it’s supposed to be that way. The story at the heart of this book is so wicked tho. Definitely worth a read.

19. Bound by Revenge by Anna Cole

Really enjoyed this one. Fast paced and a great love story. Action packed too! Just wish I would’ve seen more of the action and less of the angst. I feel like important bits were just kinda “fade to black”-ed. Overall, a solid read.

20. Night Shade by Autumn Woods

Holy…I can’t even put into words how much I LOVED this book. Autumn Woods found a way into my freaking soul with this one and I cannot wait for the next installment! Ophelia and Alex are so good and this thrilling story is one I don’t even realize I needed. An ABSOLUTE must read!!!!!!

21. Pleasure Activism by Adrienne Maree Brown

I absolutely devoured this one! A must read for anyone feeling lost, out of touch with their own body and needs and anyone who has ever felt shame for saying what they want. I love that this book shows you that feeling joy and enjoying life is the simplest way you can rebel. At a time where it feels like attacks are coming from all sides the best thing is to still find pleasure and joy in any and everything! Will read again and again and you should too!

22. Unsettling Truths by Mark Charles & Soong-Chan Rah

This book is a must read. Understanding the past horrors is the only way to move forward in a space of understanding without being condescending and narcissistic. I felt outrage, horror, sadness and so many more while reading this book. But it was a necessary cocktail of emotions. A must read!

23. Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix

This book was…a lot. I felt it was important. It was timely. It was a hard one. That’s why it took me so long to get through it. Hendrix is one I really like. And while I feel like I needed to read this, it hurt. I don’t think I can read it again. My anxiety was skyrocketing.

24. Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

I ate every part of this book up. Holy sh**! It was so good. The worldbuilding was detailed but not overly so. The characters were great and the banter was top tier. I can’t wait to read the next one and have Emilia and Wrath thoroughly take over my life.

... Read moreAfter diving into such a diverse range of books this March, I'm reflecting on what makes certain stories truly stick with you and how I navigate my ever-growing 'to be read' pile. It's not just about finishing a book; it's about the journey it takes you on, the feelings it evokes, and sometimes, the challenging truths it uncovers. For those of you who, like me, were captivated by the rich world-building and great characters in a dark fantasy read like 'Kingdom of the Wicked,' you know the thrill of finding a series that thoroughly takes over your life. If you loved the banter and the compelling dynamics, you might be on the hunt for more reads that blend fantasy with a strong romantic element. Look for books with intricate magic systems, morally gray characters, and a dash of forbidden romance. I often scour #BookTok and reviews mentioning terms like 'enemiestolovers' or 'fae fantasy' to find my next obsession. The sense of anticipation for the next installment, much like I felt for Emilia and Wrath, is what keeps me turning pages long into the night. Then there are the books that are pure adrenaline, like 'Bound by Revenge' with its fast-paced action and 'mafia vibes,' or the emotionally charged thrill of 'Night Shade.' These are the reads that grab you from the first page and don't let go until the shocking ending. If you're into narratives that are 'thrilling' and perhaps a little 'heart breaking,' don't shy away from stories that might be a 'slow build' but promise a powerful payoff. I find that checking out Goodreads tags for 'dark romance,' 'suspense,' or 'gritty contemporary' often leads me to these captivating plots. Sometimes, a book can be so good, you can't even put into words how much you LOVED it, and that's the magic of a truly immersive thriller. And let's talk about the 'important reads' – books that aren't just entertainment but expand your perspective. 'Pleasure Activism' by adrienne maree brown, for instance, was a complete devour for me because it reminds us that 'feeling joy can be resistance' in challenging times. Similarly, 'Unsettling Truths' was a necessary, albeit difficult, read, offering an 'important look at the real history.' These books might be 'hard to get through,' like 'Witchcraft for Wayward Girls' which left my anxiety skyrocketing, but they are vital. They push you out of your comfort zone and offer profound insights. When choosing these, I look for reviews that mention words like 'thought-provoking,' 'eye-opening,' or 'challenging but rewarding.' They might not always be '5-star' reads in terms of pure enjoyment, but their impact is undeniable. It's about seeking out stories that foster understanding and encourage growth, even if they sometimes feel like a heavy emotional lift. Trust me, the learning and introspection are worth it.

All the books I read this March and my rating out of 5 stars. I am still getting over the emotional toll of “Blood over bright haven” and wishing “Kill the Beast” lasted longer. “How to lose a goblin in ten days” made me giggle so much! I was disappointed with “don’t let the forest in”, a

9. The Sweetest Oblivion by Danielle Lori I’ve been in a reading slump. So thank god I got my hands on this gem. I was enraptured from the first chapter. I loved the heated marriage of convenience and enemies to lovers trope. The dialogue was great and the characters even more so. Can’t wait to r
