Finally starting the twisted series

Okay, fellow bookworms, since I just started the Twisted series by Ana Huang, the biggest question on my mind (and maybe yours too!) is: are these books connected? And do you have to read them in order? I’ve done a bit of digging and wanted to share my findings, especially since I'm already hooked after book one, *Twisted Love*! The good news is, while the Twisted series does take place in a shared universe and features recurring characters, each book focuses on a different couple. This means they can technically be read as standalones, but you'll definitely get a richer experience if you read them in publication order. Think of it like this: you meet new friends in each book, but your old friends from previous books might pop in for a cameo or play a supporting role. It’s super fun to see how their lives are progressing! Here's a quick rundown of how they connect and what to expect from each: Twisted Love (Book One): This is where it all begins with Alex Volkov and Ava Chen. Expect a classic BROTHERS BESTFRIEND and GRUMPY SUNSHINE dynamic, with a dash of FORCED PROXIMITY. While this sets up the world, its main couple's story is complete. Twisted Games (Book Two): This one follows Rhys Larsen and Bridget von Ascheberg. I have a feeling this BODYGUARD ROMANCE with a SLOW BURN and FORBIDDEN LOVE vibe is going to be my favorite! You'll see Alex and Ava occasionally, but Rhys and Bridget have their own intense journey. Twisted Hate (Book Three): Next up is Josh Chen and Jules Ambrose. If you love ENEMIES TO LOVERS, a fun FWB setup, or even a BESTFRIENDS BROTHER trope mixed with WORKPLACE ROMANCE, this is for you. The characters from the first two books might appear, but their story is distinct. Twisted Lies (Book Four): The final book in the main series is Christian Harper and Stella Alonso. This one features a POSSESSIVE HERO, FAKE DATING, and another delicious SLOWBURN. Again, while you'll see familiar faces, Christian and Stella's story is the main event. So, while each book stands on its own with its unique tropes, reading them in order (Twisted Love, Twisted Games, Twisted Hate, Twisted Lies) allows you to witness the character development of the supporting cast and understand the full scope of their interconnected friendships and relationships. You won't be completely lost if you jump around, but you might miss some emotional callbacks or inside jokes. Personally, I'm glad I decided to read them in order to get the full experience. It's like watching a TV series – you could watch an episode out of order, but it's always better to follow the narrative flow. Happy reading!
