Clinical experience is a MUST🩺

❗️Most jobs are lower paying than they should be, and most jobs require certifications… if you are certified, you will probably get paid better, but remember the money you have to spend to pay for the training program and to get certified too!!!

🩺Jobs to work for clinical experience include: -Certified Medical Assistant or CMA (less paying if not certified)

- Emergency Medical Technician or EMT (need to go through a training program)

-Paramedics (need to go thru a training program)

-Certified Nurse Assistant or CNA (less paying than CMA)

-Certified Phlebotomist (need to go through a program)

-Medical Scribe (need a training program)

-Patient Care Technician (less paying than CMA)

-Hospice Volunteer (unpaid)

-Hospital scribe

-Medical receptionist (I don’t prefer this because it is not direct patient care)

-Pharmacy technician (can be certified or uncertified, but it is also not direct patient care)

-Clinical research (can be paid or unpaid, but this is research experience, not patient care experience)

... Read moreClinical experience is vital for aspiring healthcare professionals, especially those aiming for medical school. In addition to traditional roles like Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), students can enhance their resumes through volunteering or shadowing opportunities. Paid positions, such as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) or Pharmacy Technicians, can provide valuable patient care experience but often require certifications that necessitate tuition costs. Similarly, enrolling in training programs for phlebotomy or medical scribing can lead to fulfilling career paths. For those seeking research-related experience, clinical research roles, whether paid or unpaid, can offer unique insights into the medical field. It's important for premed students to balance their clinical experiences with practical skills that will aid them in their future careers. Networking with professionals in these roles serves not only for mentorship but also opens doors to potential job opportunities. Therefore, participating in various clinical roles can be instrumental in gaining the necessary experience and qualifications, ultimately leading to a successful application to medical school and a gratifying career in healthcare.
