📍Penang Heritage

chanced upon this place when exploring a new neighbourhood! was a small indoor zichar/hawker-like eatery & food was not bad

favs:

🍜 assam laksa - flavour was 🤌🏼!! felt like I was in penang 🥹

🫜 braised turnip w shredded cuttlefish - rly interesting combination esp since I like both braised turnip & dried cuttlefish on their own

overall was pretty affordable for the relatively large portion sizes & would be a good place for family meals!

... Read moreWhen I first stumbled upon this quaint indoor zichar eatery, I wasn’t expecting much, but it turned out to be a delightful surprise. What stood out the most was the assam laksa, which truly captured the vibrant, tangy essence that Penang is famous for. It wasn’t just about the flavor; eating it felt like a brief trip to Penang itself, bringing back memories of bustling hawker centers. Another dish that caught my attention was the braised turnip with shredded cuttlefish—an unusual yet fantastic combination. Both ingredients are beloved individually for their distinct tastes and textures, but combined, they created a harmonious flavor profile that was both savory and satisfying. This dish added a unique twist to the usual local fare, making it a highlight of my visit. Portion sizes here are surprisingly large, which makes the meal not only delicious but also great value for money. This makes the eatery an ideal spot for family meals or casual gatherings without breaking the bank. The cozy ambience and unpretentious setup add to the charm, delivering an authentic foodventure experience. If you’re a fan of traditional Penang dishes like goh hiang platter, assam laksa, or braised yellow noodle mee hoon, this place is worth a visit. It’s these hidden neighborhood finds that remind me how diverse and flavorful local cuisine can be. Whether you’re craving hearty laksa or curious about new flavor combinations, this hawker-style eatery serves up both comfort and excitement on a plate.

Hey Zesties 🍋 We spent the labour day long weekend in Penang — four days, just Grab & Youtrip, and a list of restaurants that was frankly too long for the time we had. I was stressing out when planning Scotland & Tasmania (for obvious reasons because it's a full ass roadtrip). Penang wa

Your 101 to 🇲🇾 Penang tourist spots
“First time in Penang!?!” That was the first thing a local said to me on my Grab ride when I arrived in Georgetown. The incredulity in his tone was crystal clear — I am 1.5 hours away by plane and given the proximity, how is it possible that I’ve never been to Penang before? 😅 Pre-trip, I dug
