Gorillaz 2D Cosplay

Hey everyone! I’m absolutely thrilled to share my journey into becoming none other than 2D from Gorillaz. As a huge fan, cosplaying him has been on my bucket list forever, and I finally made it happen! If you've been dreaming of rocking that iconic blue hair and melancholic stare, you're in the right place. Let me walk you through how I pieced together my ultimate 2D Gorillaz cosplay. First up, arguably the most distinctive part of 2D's look: his hair! Getting that perfect 2D Gorillaz wig was crucial. I spent ages online searching for the right shade of electric blue – not too dark, not too light, but that vibrant, almost cartoonish blue. Once I found a good base wig, I actually did a bit of light styling to give it that slightly spiky, messy-but-cool texture that 2D always has. It really makes all the difference! Don’t be afraid to experiment with some hairspray and a comb to get those signature angles. Next, let's talk about those eyes! 2D’s eyes are famously black and empty, giving him his unique, soulful (or soulless, depending on your interpretation!) look. For my 2D cosplay Gorillaz eyes, I opted for black contact lenses. This is a game-changer if you want to truly capture his essence. Make sure you get them from a reputable source and know how to wear them safely. On top of the contacts, I used some dark eye makeup – mostly black eyeliner and eyeshadow – to create a slightly sunken, shadowed effect around my eyes, enhancing that hollow gaze. The most recognizable piece is probably his white and red raglan shirt, often seen with the 'VIRUS T' logo. Finding this exact shirt can be a bit tricky, but I managed to snag a similar red-sleeved raglan and then applied the 'VIRUS T' design myself using fabric paint. It was a fun DIY project and definitely made my Gorillaz costume feel more authentic. When posing for photos, I tried to capture his various moods – sometimes a neutral, distant stare, sometimes a shy smile, and yes, even sticking out my tongue like he sometimes does! It’s all about getting into character and having fun with it. Overall, putting together my 2D wig Gorillaz look and the rest of the costume was an absolute blast.
