Using the sauna regularly has been an interesting journey for me, especially at the high temperature of 142°F. While it’s known for its health benefits like improved circulation and detoxification, I’ve noticed it’s not always comfortable. I’ve experienced headaches, stomach discomfort, and even some tooth pain during or after sessions, which made me question if I should keep going. Despite these challenges, I found that the sweat dripping down my back was a visible sign of the body working hard to cleanse itself. What surprised me the most was the mental boost I got from showing up at the gym and enduring the sauna, even when I wasn’t feeling my best physically. It felt like a small victory, a high five to myself for pushing through. I learned that staying hydrated and listening to my body are crucial when using the sauna, especially at such a high temperature. You don’t have to tolerate discomfort, but a bit of endurance can sometimes lead to positive outcomes. If you’re trying a sauna for the first time or pushing your limits, I recommend starting at a lower temperature and gradually increasing it while monitoring how you feel. Also, keep the environment safe by consulting with health professionals if you have existing conditions. For me, despite the pain and confusion about why I keep going, the sauna remains a ritual that combines physical detox and mental challenge. It’s a reminder that self-care can be complex but rewarding when approached mindfully.
