New year. Atlas, we made it to the end of the road in 2025, a tumultuous journey of pain, tears, and lessons learned. Time to reflect on experiences and plan a new route for unfinished business.

As we enter the new year, be prepared for another journey to start fresh with the scent of a brand new day. It's time to discard habits that don't make you a better person.

Time to process those moments of learning, assimilate good characteristics, and use this new set of skills to make living a better experience.

As we move forward to 2026, resolutions are made again. Time to clean the closet and sweep those dustballs from under the carpet. We want to be better than what we were last year. Putting high expectations on oneself is okay, but not at the expense of struggling to upkeep that resolution.

At the end of the day, it's just another year, like a spoiled tape recorder on repeat; it will be the same as before. If we learn from our mistakes and try to be a better person, this is better because we make efforts to change into a better person, like a snake molting out of its old skin.

You shouldn't put such high attributes on yourself and fail at the end, rendering heartbreak. As long as you've done enough for yourself, don't beat yourself over something impossible to achieve.

Strive to be a more kind and empathetic person; try to also understand your surroundings. Now we start 2026, wishing all of you kind readers a great year full of happiness and good health.

Being a Tutor is hard!
I always thought if I was a good teacher, everything else would fall into place. Teaching Mathematics? That is the easy part. Simplifying complex equations and seeing that "aha!" moment in a student’s eyes is exactly why I started. I was not surprised that I loved the work. I was surp

No one told me teaching needs so much admin 🧸
Dear Private tutors, be honest… How are you tracking everything now? Spreadsheets for payments Saved messages for lesson notes Scribbled notebooks for student progress Mental notes that you pray you won’t forget Whatever system you are using, doesn’t it get annoying and time-consumin

"It’s more than just teaching": A Tutor’s insights
Had an eye-opening coffee chat recently with a tutor in her early thirties who completely shifted my perspective on long-term tutoring. ☕️✨ She has been teaching the same few kids for over three years now, and she mentioned that she is so happy doing it. However, what surprised me most was not

What Tutors actually want from technology
What surprised me after talking to tutors was not what they struggled with. It was what they did not ask for. They did not ask to be replaced. They did not ask for teaching to be automated. They did not ask for shortcuts that compromise care. Most tutors loved teaching. They valued connec

A frustrating part of tutoring nobody tells you
My team and I used to think tutoring is stressful because of teaching. Honestly? We keep finding from our interviews with tutors that teaching is the easiest part. One thing that really frustrates tutors is when parents suddenly change plans halfway. E.g. You secure a new assignment. Yay!

I am annoyed and I do not talk about it enuf
I do not think that I am lazy, and that is the frustrating part. I care, I think deeply, I really want my efforts to not be in vain and to do meaningful work. And yet, there are days I look at myself and feel angry, not at others, but at myself, at how much potential I feel like wasting. Putti

Opportunity Cost of Tutoring
That “small admin” is costing tutors more than you think. Checking payments. Updating lesson notes. Looking for old messages. Remembering what to revise next. That is opportunity cost. Time spent on admin is time you cannot spend teaching, resting, or earning. Sure, the admin work look

TutorAtlas: Mapping the Problem Areas Tutors Face

Where did my weekends go as a Tutor?!??
The real work is everything that happens before the student even sits down. The hyper-personalized planning, the strategy, the custom material. Honestly? It gets heavy. Especially on a Sunday night when your friends are out recharging, and you're staring at a blank document. To everyone e

Are busy tutors the most overlooked operators in education? We used to think the answer was admin: the payments, the scheduling, the endless WhatsApp follow-ups. We built an entire product around that belief. Then we paused posting for a while. Not because we stopped working. Because we went ba

This is harder than I expected (Making TutorAtlas)
I did not expect this to be this hard. Not the exciting kind of hard, where you have a sense of accomplishment as you slave away at something you find meaningful, but the quiet kind (In my own words). The kind of hard where everything takes longer because you actually care about getting it r

Is the spreadsheet stressing you out as a tutor?
There is something almost funny about the way we cling to systems that are clearly making our lives harder. A lot of tutors do this with spreadsheets. At first, it feels responsible. You spent time setting it up. You customised it. You told yourself it would keep everything organised. S
