What can I say 🙆🏻‍♀️

2025/3/6 Edited to

... Read moreIt's funny how something as simple as our hair can have such a profound impact on how we see ourselves. For me, it's a feeling I've carried for a long time: 'Me every wash day, because I don't feel skinny unless my hair is straight.' This isn't just about aesthetics; it's deeply tied to my body image and overall confidence. Every wash day, when my curly hair is fresh and a bit wild, I often find myself instinctively reaching for my straightener. There’s a certain sleekness that straight hair provides, an illusion of length and a more streamlined silhouette that, in my mind, translates to feeling smaller, more put-together, and yes, even 'skinnier.' It’s a powerful, almost subconscious connection I've made between my hair texture and my self-perception. This isn't to say I don't love my natural curls. There are days I embrace them fully, but the feeling of wanting that straight look, especially after a wash, is a persistent one. It's a common struggle I've heard from many others too – the idea that one hairstyle makes us feel more 'acceptable' or confident than another. The journey from curly to straight hair isn't just a physical transformation; it’s often a mental one, influencing how I carry myself throughout the day. I've started exploring why this perception exists. Is it societal pressure? Media portrayals? Or just a personal preference that developed over time? Perhaps it's a mix of all these. When my hair is straight, I feel like I'm presenting a more polished version of myself, which then boosts my confidence in my appearance. This feeling of being 'put together' helps me navigate my day with a better sense of self-assurance. For those who might relate, I've found some things that help. Experimenting with different straightener curls or gentle straightening techniques can protect your hair while still achieving that desired look. Investing in quality heat protectants and nourishing hair masks is crucial. But beyond the styling, it's also about working on that inner dialogue. I'm trying to challenge that 'unless my hair is straight' thought, reminding myself that my worth and my body image aren't defined by my hair texture. It’s a balancing act: enjoying the transformative power of a good straightener while also learning to appreciate the beauty of my natural curly hair. Ultimately, it's about feeling good in my own skin, whether my hair is cascading in curls or falling sleekly straight. But for now, that feeling of confidence often comes hand-in-hand with the sleekness of straightened locks on wash day.

how to say no in a nice way 🥰
Telling someone “no” is not rude, it’s called setting a boundary!! and you can set boundaries in a polite way! it doesn’t have to be “rude” and if someone doesn’t understand or takes it the wrong way, that’s on them. Being a people pleaser is rude to yourself!! You are not putting yourself
