Cathedral Cafe 🤌

Cathedral Cafe

My sister used to live in West Virginia and this cafe was my favorite spot to eat at! The cafe used to be a church. It has books that are free for customers to take and a gift shop upstairs with lots of unique items. My favorite item on the menu is the teriyaki chicken & cashew salad. It has a raspberryvinegrette dressing, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries raspberries, and peppers. That still remains to be my all time favorite salad. It’s excellent and the restaurant is beautiful.

Stepping inside, you're immediately struck by its past life as a church. Imagine high ceilings and gorgeous, colorful stained-glass windows that cast beautiful hues across the spacious interior. It’s not just a cafe; it’s an experience, a blend of history and hospitality that creates such a warm and inviting atmosphere. I remember sitting at one of their round, colorful sunburst-patterned tables, just soaking it all in, feeling like I'd stumbled upon a truly hidden gem in Beckley, WV. The unique architecture, with its church-like ambiance, makes every visit feel special and memorable. Beyond the stunning aesthetics, what really makes Cathedral Cafe stand out is its commitment to creating a welcoming and engaging space for everyone. They have bookshelves stocked with books that are free for customers to take and enjoy! How incredibly thoughtful is that? It absolutely encourages you to linger, grab another cup of their delicious coffee, and lose yourself in a good story. It’s perfect for a quiet afternoon escape, a productive work session, or a relaxed catch-up with friends. And speaking of unique finds, you absolutely cannot miss the upstairs gift shop. It’s not just a few trinkets; it’s a genuine treasure trove! I’ve seen everything from unique clothing pieces, like those vibrant yellow shirts, to handcrafted art, and charming home decor. It's the kind of place where you can easily find a truly memorable souvenir or that perfect, thoughtful gift for someone special. The patterned rug and various art pieces really add to its eclectic charm. Now, let’s talk about the food, because that teriyaki chicken & cashew salad? Oh my goodness. It’s not just a salad; it’s a culinary masterpiece that I still crave. The ingenious mix of fresh mixed greens with generous portions of sweet strawberries, plump blueberries, juicy raspberries, and tart blackberries, combined with perfectly tender teriyaki chicken and crunchy cashews, all drizzled with that incredible sweet and tangy raspberry vinaigrette... it’s simply divine. Honestly, it’s still my all-time favorite salad, and I’ve tried countless others! It’s fresh, bursting with flavor, and surprisingly filling, making it an ideal lunch or light dinner option. It really highlights their dedication to fresh, quality ingredients. But Cathedral Cafe offers more than just incredible food and a unique setting. I’ve heard they sometimes host exciting events, too. I even spotted a flyer for a 'COMEDY NIGHT' in one of their smaller, cozy rooms – how utterly fun and unexpected is that? It truly shows that they are more than just a place to eat; they're a vibrant community hub, always offering something new. Whether you’re passing through the beautiful landscapes of West Virginia, or specifically searching for a delightful and distinctive spot in Fayetteville or Beckley, this cafe truly caters to all senses. It’s more than just a meal; it’s a memorable visit, guaranteed to fill you with good food, good vibes, and perhaps a new book or a unique souvenir. Next time you’re in the area, you absolutely have to stop by and experience the unique magic of Cathedral Cafe for yourself. It’s an experience you won't forget!
