ANY OTHER PREEMIE MOMS OUT THERE??

So usually I try to keep things very positive on this account (not that this is meant to be negative!) but I just wanted to share some things I think about a LOT as a mom to a preemie so that any other preemie moms out there trying to navigate this aren’t alone 😊.

My daughter was born two months early (at 33 weeks) and I am so grateful that she was as developed as she was when she was born so she needed minimal help and has no long term issues ❤️. She was in the NICU for a little over two weeks and was on CPAP to help her breathing, a feeding tube until she learned to eat on her own, and was treated for a little bit of jaundice (as well as an IV etc).

Any other preemie mamas out there? What are things you think about frequently?

... Read moreParenting a preemie can be both rewarding and challenging. As a mom of a preemie, you may often think about your child's health, milestones, and the adjustments needed to ensure their well-being. It's common to worry about their immune system, especially in their first year. Many preemie moms ask: 'Should she be hitting this milestone yet?'. Along with the stress of potential health issues, preterm babies often face hurdles in feeding and development that can prolong breastfeeding or cause anxiety over other health concerns. Join forums and groups, like those on social media, where preemie moms share their personal stories and professional advice. These platforms can be invaluable for finding strategies to cope with the unique challenges of premature parenthood. Equally, they help foster connectivity with others who share similar experiences, forming a crucial support network that allows for emotional expression and advice sharing. Remember that each baby's journey is unique, so it's essential to celebrate small victories and lean on your community for support during tough times.

I had my twins at 24 weeks and spent 156 days in Nicu… One never got sick. The other got sick twice within first 6 months of discharge. Both times ended him back in the hospital. First time for about 3 days, the second time for a week. I breastfed them only first 6 months.

I had my twin boys at 33 weeks. I was nervous they wouldn’t hit milestones on time. They are hitting them great. They just need a couple months to be on track with everything
