BABY/TODDLER BOO BASKET 👻🎃
If you are new here, this is one of my favorite things to do as a mom!! I do these for my fiancé as well and it’s a household favorite. Last year my daughter was so little she had no idea what was going on haha but this year she’s 1 and definitely appreciates new things to explore! Overall so much fun 🥰
Everything was either from Target, Dollar Tree, or Amazon!

Building a boo basket for your little one, especially a 1-year-old, is such a heartwarming tradition! While they might not fully grasp the concept of Halloween yet, it's an incredible opportunity to introduce them to new textures, colors, and sensory experiences, all wrapped up in a festive package. As a mom, I find so much joy in putting together these thoughtful little surprises, watching their eyes light up as they discover each new item. It’s not just about the gifts; it’s about creating those precious early memories and starting a family tradition that can grow with them. For a 1-year-old, the focus isn't on candy, but on safe, engaging, and age-appropriate items. When I’m curating my 1 year old's boo basket, I always think about what will spark her curiosity and bring a smile to her face. Here are some of my go-to ideas: Sensory & Playtime Delights: Soft, Themed Plush Toys: Think a friendly ghost, a cuddly pumpkin, or a little bat. Opt for ones with different textures (crinkly, silky, fuzzy) to engage their developing senses. Ensure there are no small, detachable parts that could pose a choking hazard. Board Books: Halloween-themed board books are perfect! Stories like "Room on the Broom" or "Spooky Pookie" are fantastic for introducing vocabulary and visual concepts. Plus, reading together is a wonderful bonding activity. Stacking Toys or Blocks: Look for sets with Halloween colors (orange, black, purple, green). These are great for motor skill development and problem-solving. Bath Toys: Festive rubber duckies or floating monsters can make bath time extra fun. Just make sure they are mold-resistant and easy to clean. Practical & Festive Touches: Halloween Pajamas: Who doesn't love themed PJs? They’re cozy, cute, and perfect for photo opportunities. Themed Bibs or Socks: Small, practical items with a spooky twist can be adorable additions. Snack Pouches or Puffs: While candy is out, age-appropriate snacks like fruit pouches or veggie puffs in festive colors (think orange sweet potato or purple berry blends) can be a tasty treat. A Small Pumpkin Bucket: Even if they're not trick-or-treating yet, a miniature pumpkin-shaped bucket can be used for playing around the house or as a prop for their first Halloween photos. I often find amazing deals at places like Target's Dollar Spot, Dollar Tree, and of course, Amazon. You don't need to spend a fortune to create a magical boo basket. For instance, Dollar Tree is great for seasonal tissue paper, small non-choking hazard toys, or even plain baskets you can decorate. Target’s seasonal sections always have cute, inexpensive baby items. Amazon is excellent for finding specific themed books or safe, soft toys in bulk. When assembling your boo basket, choose a sturdy, cute basket or even a Halloween-themed fabric bin. Line it with some festive crinkle paper or tissue paper before arranging the gifts. I like to place the larger items at the back and then fill in with smaller, more eye-catching goodies at the front. A little handwritten tag wishing them a "Happy First Boo!" adds a sweet personal touch. Remember, safety is paramount. Always check for age recommendations on toys, avoid anything with small parts that could be a choking hazard for a 1-year-old, and ensure all items are non-toxic. Supervise your little one as they explore their new treasures. Creating a baby boo basket is truly about embracing the holiday spirit and showering your little ghost or goblin with love and new adventures!
