Helloo, It’s Meeee 🤍🫶✨
I didn’t realize how heavy my hair felt until I sat in the chair and let myself be taken care of. Not heavy because of the length but because of everything it had been holding.
Pregnancy. Postpartum. Balancing Life.
Somewhere along the way, my hair stopped feeling like expression and started feeling like a weight. This season isn’t about going back. It’s about choosing myself differently.
Softer.
More intentional.
Honoring who I am now, not who I had to be to get through it. I didn’t lose myself, I was carrying her. And today, I put some of that weight down. I am slowly creating my self-care system so stay tuned 💕
Balancing life’s demands, especially through pregnancy and postpartum, can deeply affect our sense of self—including how we perceive something as personal as our hair. Hair often carries symbolic weight, representing our identity, emotions, and experiences. When I reflected on my own hair journey, I realized it wasn’t just the physical length or volume that felt heavy but the emotional layers it had accumulated over time. Pregnancy and postpartum periods bring so many changes, both physical and emotional, and hair can silently absorb some of that burden. Choosing to care for myself differently means embracing softness—being gentle with both my hair and my spirit. I started to approach my hair care routine with more intention, focusing on nourishing it rather than treating it as a symbol of stress or exhaustion. This shift transformed my relationship with my hair, turning it back into a form of self-expression and love rather than a reminder of the challenges I faced. I also discovered the power of creating a self-care system that aligns with who I am now. It’s not about forcing myself to return to who I was before pregnancy or the busy seasons of balancing life—it’s about honoring growth, embracing change, and finding new ways to nurture myself. This process includes gentle hair treatments, mindfulness practices, and taking moments to simply be present with myself. Through sharing this journey, I hope to encourage others to listen to their own needs and to recognize when it’s time to put down the weight—whatever form that weight takes. Self-care is not selfish; it’s essential for healing and thriving. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, consider the small daily acts of care that can help you reconnect with yourself. Whether it’s adjusting your hair routine, carving out quiet moments, or simply acknowledging your own growth, these intentional choices can lead to renewed strength and softness alike.
