Our phones are not just devices anymore.
They are attention machines.
And I’m not saying this from some place above it. I’m typing this from a phone. I’m part of it too.
That’s the point.
We are all carrying around something designed to pull us back in.
The alerts.
The colors.
The likes.
The comments.
The messages.
The little red dots.
The endless scroll.
The algorithm learns what gets a reaction from us, then feeds us more of it. More outrage. More comparison. More distraction. More little hits of being seen.
Slowly, our energy starts leaking into the screen.
First thing in the morning.
Last thing at night.
In the middle of conversations.
During meals.
In silence.
In boredom.
In one quiet second where we could actually feel our life.
The hand reaches before we even think about it.
That is how deep the conditioning goes.
The phone can connect us. It can teach us. It can help us create, work, share, and communicate.
It also becomes a leash when it owns our attention.
Maybe the first step is not pretending we are above it.
Maybe it is just noticing the leak.
Noticing the reach.
Noticing the itch.
Noticing how often our attention leaves the body and disappears into a screen.
Then putting it down for a few minutes.
Not as punishment.
Just to come back.
To breath.
To quiet.
To the life happening right here.
