Why our phones are killing us
🔥 Your Phone Is Aging You 📱⚠️
We look down at our phones for hours every day… and it’s quietly damaging our spine. “Tech neck” puts up to 60 lbs of pressure on your neck, leading to pain, poor posture, headaches, and early wear on your spine. Small habits
From my own experience, I didn't realize how much time I spent looking down at my phone until I began to experience persistent neck pain and headaches. Research shows that this posture, often called 'tech neck,' can exert up to 60 lbs of pressure on the neck, accelerating spinal wear and leading to chronic discomfort. To combat this, I started small by raising my phone to eye level during use, which significantly reduced the strain on my neck and shoulders. Taking regular breaks from screen time and incorporating neck stretches throughout the day helped relieve tension. Another effective habit is to maintain an upright posture when using laptops or phones, avoiding consistent bending forward. Incorporating these simple changes has not only eased my pain but improved my overall posture and energy levels. It's easy to underestimate the impact that repetitive, prolonged device use can have on our musculoskeletal system. By being mindful of our phone and laptop habits, we can protect ourselves from long-term damage and discomfort linked to tech neck and repetitive strain. Small consistent actions make a big difference in maintaining spinal health in a technology-driven world.
