What is my makeup blindness??

We might be making subtle (or not-so-subtle!) mistakes without even realizing it. It's easy to fall into a makeup rut and become 'blind' to what could be improved. For example, have you ever heard of foundation blindness? This often happens when you use a shade that's either too light or too dark for your skin tone, or perhaps a formula that doesn't suit your skin type, leading to a patchy or cakey finish. You might think it looks fine, but in natural light, it could be a different story. Then there's concealer blindness, which is super common. Many of us might be using the wrong shade of concealer for our under-eyes (it should typically be slightly peach-toned to counteract darkness, not just lighter), or applying too much product, causing creasing and making fine lines more prominent. I’ve definitely been there, thinking my concealer was doing wonders, only to see photos later and cringe! Contour blindness is another big one. It's so easy to get carried away with contour, creating harsh lines or placing it in the wrong areas, making your face look muddy instead of sculpted. The goal is to create natural-looking shadows, not streaks! Sometimes, our "blindness" even extends beyond traditional makeup; take black hair blindness, for instance. My top tip is to take photos and videos of your makeup in different lighting – especially natural daylight! What looks great under your bathroom light might look completely different outside. Another great strategy is to politely ask a trusted friend for their honest opinion. Sometimes, an outsider's perspective is exactly what we need. Lastly, pay attention to the application of products like lip gloss. Are you overlining too much? Is the color truly enhancing your natural lip tone? Even small things can make a big difference. It's all about self-awareness and being willing to evolve your look. Don't be afraid to experiment, try new techniques, and break free from old habits.
