Grow up. You’re not 10 years old anymore. Seek help.
Growing up emotionally is often more complicated than it seems. Many people reach adulthood without being taught how to properly handle their feelings, which can lead to frustration and misunderstandings with oneself and others. From personal experience, I’ve found that acknowledging emotions rather than suppressing them is a vital first step. One key realization is that having a fully developed brain—like the frontal lobe responsible for decision-making and emotional regulation—means we’re capable of more mature responses. However, capacity doesn’t automatically translate into skill. That’s where therapy and professional help come in. When I started therapy, I learned techniques to work through negative emotions instead of dismissing them with phrases like “I literally don't care.” Therapy provides a safe space to explore feelings and develop coping strategies. It encourages self-reflection and growth, which might feel uncomfortable at first but ultimately leads to greater emotional resilience. The idea of “Grow up” isn’t about dismissing feelings but about committing to work through them responsibly. If you’re feeling stuck, consider that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a step toward self-care and maturity. Admitting you need support can empower you to live a healthier, happier life. Remember, no one taught us how to handle emotions when we were young, but it’s never too late to learn.
