Hey everyone! If you caught my last post, you know I've been on a mission to completely overhaul the audio experience in my beloved Lexus GX470. This is PART 2 of my journey, where I dive deep into the nitty-gritty of the speaker and subwoofer replacement. Trust me, if you're a GX470 owner, you know the stock sound system can leave a lot to be desired, especially if you've got the Mark Levinson system acting up or just want something with more punch and clarity. For me, the decision to embark on this GX470 speaker upgrade came after years of feeling like my music wasn't getting the respect it deserved. The factory speakers were tired, and the subwoofer had seen better days – or perhaps, never really had good days to begin with! The biggest impact, I've found, comes from upgrading both. You can replace just the speakers, but a proper Lexus GX470 subwoofer replacement will truly round out the sound, giving you that deep, rich bass that's often missing. Before you even think about pulling out a screwdriver, you'll want to do your homework. What kind of sound are you looking for? Are you aiming for crisp highs, solid mids, or earth-shaking bass? This will dictate your choice of aftermarket speakers and subwoofer. I opted for high-quality components that offered a good balance for my music tastes. When choosing new speakers for your GX470, pay attention to the size and mounting depth to avoid clearance issues. For the subwoofer, consider whether you want to stick with a factory-location replacement or go for a custom enclosure. Researching compatible brands and models specifically for the GX470 can save you a lot of hassle. The actual process, which I show in my timelapse, involves carefully removing door panels for the speakers and accessing the rear cargo area for the subwoofer. It's not overly complicated, but patience is key! Disconnecting the battery first is a must for safety. Working with wiring can be intimidating, but there are plenty of resources online, and a good wiring harness adapter can save you a lot of headache. For the GX470 subwoofer replacement, expect to deal with some trim pieces and potentially some tight spaces. Make sure all connections are secure to prevent future rattles or sound issues. Double-check your polarity to ensure your speakers are working in sync. My personal tip? Don't skimp on sound deadening! Adding some sound-dampening material to the doors and around the subwoofer enclosure will make a huge difference in reducing vibrations and improving overall sound quality. It's an extra step but totally worth it. The transformation in sound quality after this GX470 speaker upgrade has been incredible. Every drive now feels like a concert on wheels! This journey has been super rewarding, and I'm already looking forward to the next steps. Make sure to WATCH PART 3! where I'll be covering the amplifier installation and fine-tuning my new audio system. If you're thinking about breathing new life into your GX470's audio, I hope my experience gives you the confidence to go for it!
