It’s Soup Season!! 🍜🥣🍲
This boy LOVES his soup!! It’s that time of year where the croc pot has a permanent spot in the counter it gets used so much 😋
Thinking about making a few posts about toddler friendly and tasty soups.. one’s my toddler absolutely LOVES!!
It's officially soup season, and I absolutely adore how a warm bowl of soup can bring so much comfort, especially when it's finally cold enough to eat soup every day! For parents like me, finding meals that our toddlers not only eat but genuinely love can feel like a win. That's why I've become a huge fan of making delicious, toddler-friendly soups. My crockpot has practically earned a permanent spot on the counter, making these meals a breeze. When I started exploring different soups toddlers love, my main focus was on nutrition and ease. I've learned a few tricks along the way to ensure these recipes are perfect for little ones. First, always go for low-sodium broth to keep things healthy. Toddlers don't need all that extra salt! Secondly, chop ingredients into small, manageable pieces to prevent choking hazards. For younger toddlers, I often puree a portion of the soup, or even the whole thing, to get those extra veggies in without a fuss. One of my go-to recipes for a truly toddler-friendly soup is a simple creamy chicken and vegetable soup. I load it up with finely diced carrots, celery, peas, and tender chicken breast. A touch of cream or full-fat milk at the end makes it wonderfully rich and appealing. Another absolute winner in my house is a mild tomato soup. I make it from scratch with ripe tomatoes, a hint of basil, and a swirl of cream. Served with some grilled cheese 'soldiers' for dipping, it’s always a hit! Using the crockpot for these soups is a game-changer. It allows me to toss everything in during naptime, and by dinner, we have a hearty, home-cooked meal ready to go. This has been a lifesaver on busy days. Plus, the slow cooking really melds the flavors together, making even the simplest ingredients taste incredible. For parents looking for easy crockpot meals, you really can't beat a good soup. I've also experimented with lentil soup – a fantastic source of plant-based protein and fiber. To make it more appealing for my toddler, I cook the lentils until they're very soft, then blend about half of the soup before combining it back with the rest. This creates a thicker, creamier texture that's less intimidating. Adding a squeeze of lemon juice at the end brightens the flavor beautifully. For those picky eaters, don't give up! I've found that involving my toddler in the preparation (even just stirring cold ingredients in the crockpot) sometimes makes them more willing to try the final product. Offering a variety of toppings, like a sprinkle of cheese, some croutons, or even a dollop of plain yogurt, can also entice them. Remember, it's about making mealtime an enjoyable experience. These easy soup recipes are not just about feeding them, but about creating warm, comforting memories during these chilly days.
