Having ADHD means I don’t organize things alphabetically, chronologically, or by any system that would make sense to a normal human being. I organize by ✨vibes✨. By gut instinct. By whatever feels right in the moment.
My brain doesn’t think, “Where should this logically go?” It thinks, “Where would I naturally look for this at 2:17pm on a random Tuesday?” That’s the system. If I feel like I’d check the second drawer instead of the first, that’s where it lives now. Does it make sense? Not really. Does it work? Absolutely… until someone moves it.
Color coding? Sometimes. Random piles? Definitely. I’ll have extremely specific micro-categories that only I understand. “Important but not urgent.” “Urgent but not today.” “Things I’ll deal with when I emotionally recover.” It’s chaotic, but it’s strategic chaos.
The funny part? If someone tries to “fix” my system and make it more logical, I will never find anything again. My brain maps things spatially and emotionally, not traditionally.
