10 MUST-DO THINGS TO ADD TO YOUR BALI ITINERARY

Prepare for an unforgettable adventure on the captivating island of Bali with 10 must-visit attractions to enhance your Bali itinerary.

📍Lahangan Sweet: Perched atop the majestic hills overlooking Amed on the North East Coast of Bali, Lahangan Sweet awaits as a hidden gem worth discovering. Despite the effort it takes to reach this enchanting viewpoint, the awe-inspiring panoramic vistas it offers make every step worthwhile.

📍Lempuyang temple: Prepare to be enchanted by the mystical allure of Lempuyang Temple, also known as the Gateway to Heaven. Nestled on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang, this ancient Balinese temple offers a spiritual and visually captivating experience. As you ascend the stairway adorned with split gates, known as "Puras," you'll be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of Mount Agung, Bali's highest peak, creating a surreal backdrop for your spiritual journey. HIGHLY recommend getting there first thing in the morning as we waited 3.5 hours in line to take this photo.

📍Bali Swing Park: Unleash your inner thrill-seeker at Bali Swing Park, where you can soar through the air on exhilarating swings suspended high above the dense jungles. Feel the rush of adrenaline as you take in the awe-inspiring vistas that unfold before your eyes, creating picture-perfect moments that will leave you in awe.

📍Floating Breakfast at The Udaya Resorts: Indulge in a unique and lavish experience by treating yourself to one of Bali’s iconic floating breakfasts. We had ours at The Udaya hotel in Ubud, but you’ll find these available at many places throughout the island.

📍Tegallalang Rice Terrace: Marvel at the emerald green terraced rice fields that adorn the landscape of Tegallalang. Lose yourself in the beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site as you wander through the narrow paths, witnessing the intricate irrigation system that sustains the lush vegetation. Don't forget to capture the postcard-perfect views and learn about the ancient farming practices that have shaped Bali's agricultural heritage.

📍Tirta Gangga: Immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of Tirta Gangga, a stunning water palace that features ornate pools, fountains, and lush gardens. Take a leisurely stroll through this serene oasis and feed the friendly, but excited fish.

📍Handara Iconic Gate: Discover a hidden gem nestled in the lush mountains of Bali, the Handara Gate. Capture the perfect photo against the backdrop of this iconic gate. Recommend getting there first thing in the morning so you don’t have to pay for an entry fee or wait in line.

📍Sekumpul Waterfall: Prepare to be spellbound by the majestic beauty of Sekumpul Waterfall, often hailed as Bali's most scenic waterfall. Journey through lush forests and navigate through multiple steep cascades to reach the main falls, where the roaring water plunges into a pristine pool below.

📍Ulun Danu Beratan Temple: Delve into the spiritual heart of Bali as you visit the enchanting Ulundanu Temple, a revered water temple nestled on the serene shores of Lake Bratan. This iconic landmark, dedicated to the goddess of the lake, Dewi Danu, offers a mesmerizing blend of natural beauty and cultural significance. Explore the temple complex, stroll along the serene lake, and embrace the spiritual energy that permeates the surroundings, leaving you with a profound appreciation for Bali's rich cultural heritage and its deep-rooted spiritual traditions.

📍Rumah Pohon : Immerse yourself in a whimsical world by visiting the enchanting Rumah Pohon "Tree House" located on the island of Nusa Penida. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this unique accommodation offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, allowing you to experience Bali from a completely new perspective. Just be prepared to wait in line and be ready for your photo as you only have 2 minutes once it’s your turn.

... Read moreWhen planning my Bali trip, everyone kept talking about the 'Gate of Heaven,' and I knew I had to see it for myself. Let me tell you, it's absolutely worth the hype, but there are a few practical tips I wish I’d known before I went to make the most of it! First off, the Lempuyang Temple, home to the famous 'Gate of Heaven,' is quite a journey, nestled high on Mount Lempuyang. My best advice, echoed by locals and fellow travelers, is to get there first thing in the morning. I'm talking pre-sunrise if you can manage it! We arrived around 7 AM and still found a queue, but it was significantly shorter than what we saw later in the day. The article mentions a 3.5-hour wait for the photo, and trust me, that's no exaggeration if you don't go early. Plus, the morning light is just magical for photos, and the air is cooler. Now, about that iconic reflection photo: you might be surprised to learn that the 'water' reflection you see in most photos isn't actually a pool of water. It's a clever trick! Local photographers at the site use a small mirror or even their phones under their camera lens to create that stunning, perfectly symmetrical reflection of the gate and Mount Agung. Don't worry about trying to figure it out yourself; they're experts and will guide you. Just be prepared to wait your turn for a few quick snaps – everyone gets about 2-3 minutes. The entrance fee is 55,000 IDR per person, which covers access and a sarong rental, as it's a sacred temple site. Beyond the 'Gate of Heaven' itself, don't rush off! Lempuyang Temple is actually a complex of seven temples, and if you're up for a hike, there are more spiritual sites further up the mountain. Even if you just explore the immediate area, you'll find beautiful carvings and a serene atmosphere. Remember to dress respectfully – shoulders and knees covered – though sarongs are provided if you forget. Bring water, especially if you plan to do any climbing, as it can get quite warm. Getting there usually involves hiring a private driver or taking a scooter, as it's a bit remote. Sharing a driver with others can also be a cost-effective way to make the trip. Experiencing this spiritual landmark was a highlight of my Bali adventure, truly feeling like standing at the edge of something divine.
