The wedding dress I picked 👰🏻‍♀️

I ended up choosing the very first white dress I tried as my wedding dress. The dress called Blake by Jaori fitted me so well and really accentuated my body shape. I loved it the moment I had it on but me being me, I wanted to try on other dresses just in case there was a better one...

The stylist from Truly Enamoured was incredibly helpful throughout the process. I felt so assured that I I would be my best in that dress and there was no mishap whatsoever on the day.

I had two fittings in total. The second fitting was also the day I took the dress. Honestly, their professionalism and experience were impressive. They made sure the bow sitting on the back of my dress was comfortable for me. They adjusted its height according to my body and look and during the fittings, I did a few trial walks. The stylists also recorded a video on how to put on the dress with detailed verbal instructions. I truly appreciated all these efforts 🥹 I guess sometimes you really get what you paid for or as the chinese saying goes 一分钱,一分货?🥹 I was really fortunate to have rented the piece at a good deal tho!!

Here are 3 tips for those who are looking for THE ONE WEDDING DRESS:

1. The dress has to accentuate and flatter your body shape

Find a dress that really brings the best out of how your body looks. For example, I have a more rectangular body shape, with heavier bust, thus I found ballgown / mermaid dress does not flatter my body shape.

2. How uncomfortable you can be in that dress

Every wedding dress will not be as comfortable as your everyday wear. Find a dress you are okay to be uncomfortable with. Personally for me, I knew I wanted something simple that I could walk around in easily and without a super complicated train. The Jaori dress has a detachable train in the event I'd like it removed.

3. Find a dress that fits your theme / wedding venue

You get to decide how extravagant your wedding would be (of course depending on your budget...) find a dress that fits your venue and the theme you both hv decided on. I was going for a minimalistic, simple theme.

I hope this helps. Stay tuned for the next post where I will share how I ended up deciding on my hermes heels 😛 plus the other heels I've tried and what I thought of them!

... Read moreSelecting the perfect wedding dress is truly a memorable journey, and I’d love to share some additional insights from my experience that may help other brides-to-be. When I first tried on the Jaori Blake dress, the way it accentuated my rectangular body shape with a heavier bust made me realize how important it is to understand your unique silhouette. Dresses like ballgowns and mermaid styles didn't suit me because they either added bulk or didn't provide the right balance. So, my advice is to spend some time researching dress silhouettes before heading to boutiques, maybe even using apps or websites that allow you to visualize styles on different body types. Another crucial aspect is comfort. Even though wedding dresses aren’t designed like everyday clothes, feeling too restricted can affect your entire day. For instance, the detachable train on my dress was a lifesaver — it gave me options to switch between dramatic and practical looks as the event progressed. Make sure to discuss such customizable features with your stylist; they can drastically improve your comfort and ease of movement. Speaking of stylists, the team at Truly Enamoured went above and beyond for me. Their attention to detail, like adjusting the bow's height to suit my posture and recording a step-by-step video on how to wear the dress, made me feel completely prepared. This kind of personalized service isn’t just a luxury — it’s something I believe every bride deserves. Lastly, align your dress choice with your wedding theme and venue. If you’re planning a minimalist wedding like me, a simple yet elegant dress works best. For grand ballroom events, you might opt for something more traditional and elaborate. Budget is always a factor, but investing in a gown that complements your entire celebration will be worth it in the memories and photos. Overall, be patient and trust the process. Sometimes the first dress you try on really is the one, as it was for me. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and take your time during fittings — the little adjustments can make a big difference. I hope my journey with the Jaori Blake gown offers encouragement and guidance as you find your perfect dress!
