Court Orders 2 Years "Pu Mun" Contempt Case "Baby Bear Halo" Knot Alleged Lending Loan - 2 Years Parole, 1 Year Probation
The South Bangkok Criminal Court has a two-year prison sentence, a fine of 60,000 baht, "Pu Matthana," a famous actor, for defamation by advertising. On March 4, at courtroom 403, the South Bangkok Criminal Court, the appointment court read Judgment No. Black, No. 442 / 2025, in which Halo Thongsiri Sri, or "Bear's Child," is the plaintiff, filed a lawsuit against Muthana, Golden Snow, or "Pu Muthina," as the defendant for defamation of others by advertising.
The case was traced to a case in which the defendant, in a press interview, accused the plaintiff of lending a loan, an allegation that could be discredited.
Today, Mrs. Madina arrived to hear the judgment with a lawyer, while the prosecution assigned a lawyer to hear the judgment instead.
The court considered that the defendant had interviewed the plaintiff on the issue of the loan, but could not bring evidence to show to the court that the plaintiff had actually acted, nor did the act make an exception to being done in good faith or in the public interest.
The court therefore found that the defendant intended to plead damages for the plaintiff. It is an offence under Criminal Code Sections 326, 328 and 393. It is a single offence against multiple laws. It is punishable by defamation by advertising, which is the most punishable.
Sentenced to a two-year prison sentence with a fine of 60,000 baht. However, the sentence is fixed for two years with a probation term of one year, three probation reports to the probation worker and 48 hours of social service.
This case is another example that reflects that an interview or comment to the media, if it refers to another person without evidence, may be guilty of defamation and legally liable.
