While my June spread is all about channeling my inner Olivia Rodrigo (can you tell I'm obsessed?), the process of bringing any theme to life is super similar. Whether you're dreaming of a vibrant 'lemon bullet journal theme' for summer or a cozy autumn vibe, here’s how I approach designing my spreads to make them both pretty and practical.
First, choose your vibe. For June, I was deep into Olivia Rodrigo's 'GUTS' era and her recent singles like 'Vampire' and 'Bad Idea Right?'. I wanted something moody yet ethereal, with lots of deep purples and a touch of edgy rockstar chic. If you were going for a 'lemon' theme, you'd think bright yellows, vibrant greens, maybe some watercolor citrus slices, and a fresh, zesty feel. Brainstorm keywords and imagery associated with your chosen theme. For Olivia, I thought about album covers, concert outfits, and even her iconic 'Drivers License' aesthetic.
Next, gather your inspiration. Pinterest is my go-to for visual ideas. I look for color palettes, font styles, and little decorative elements that match my chosen theme. For Olivia, I saved pins with dark aesthetics, starry nights, and even some grungy elements. For a lemon theme, you might look up 'summer fruit graphics,' 'minimalist yellow decor,' or 'Mediterranean tile patterns.' Don't be afraid to mix and match!
Then, it's all about layout and design elements. I always start with my monthly calendar. For June, I incorporated a 'June Recap' section to easily jot down highlights. I love making my calendar functional but also beautiful. Think about what trackers you need – habit trackers, mood trackers, spending logs. How can you integrate your theme into these? For example, my mood tracker uses little 'Spilled' inkblots or 'Traitor' hearts depending on the mood! For a lemon theme, maybe your habit tracker has little lemon wedges filling up as you complete tasks.
Don’t forget the details! This is where your bullet journal truly comes alive. I use purple pens, 'Vampire' stickers (or draw my own), and handwritten lyrics to bring my Olivia Rodrigo obsession to every page. The OCR also picked up on some of my daily planning, like 'Thursday GUT IS' and specific dates – making sure these elements are clear and readable is key! For a lemon theme, consider using yellow highlighters, drawing tiny lemons or leaves around your dates, or adding quotes about sunshine and freshness.
Finally, don't stress perfection! Your bullet journal is a personal space. It's meant to be used, lived in, and sometimes get a little messy. My spreads aren't always flawless, but they reflect my personality and help me stay organized. Seeing 'Olira Todrigo Obsessed' in my own handwriting makes me smile every time I open it. Experiment with different styles and find what works for you. Whether it's a sophisticated design or a playful one, the best bullet journal is the one you'll actually use!
