What‘s the best primer?

i have been struggling to find a primer i can use everyday and also keeps my makeup in place and lasts all day without splotching or pilling. I also have yet to find one that doesn’t break me out😕 I do struggle with a lot of hormonal acne and wear a full face of makeup alot to help cover it and feel more confident💗

What’s your go to primer? Do you struggle with acne? What kind of makeup are you into no makeup makeup or full face all the way makeup?

... Read moreIt's so tough finding the right primer, especially when you have specific skin challenges like hormonal acne and need your makeup to last all day without pilling or splotching! I completely get it. While my main focus is often on primers that won't irritate my sensitive/acne-prone skin, I've also been exploring options for achieving that coveted 'dewy primer for dry skin' look, because let's face it, even oily or acne-prone skin can have dry patches, or we simply want that hydrated, radiant glow without looking greasy. Finding a dewy primer that still works for dry and acne-prone skin feels like searching for a unicorn, right? But it's not impossible! I’ve learned a few tricks that might help. First, look for primers that are labeled 'non-comedogenic' or 'oil-free.' This is crucial for preventing new breakouts, even if you're aiming for a dewy finish. Many hydrating primers use ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or squalane, which are amazing for plumping up dry skin and giving that glow, but they’re generally considered safe for acne-prone types. I always double-check ingredient lists for anything that might trigger my skin. Another tip is to consider the texture. Sometimes, gel-based hydrating primers can offer a lovely dewy finish without feeling heavy or suffocating on the skin like some oil-based options might. They tend to absorb quickly and create a smooth canvas without clogging pores. I've found that these types often work best for my skin, giving me a healthy radiance rather than an overly shiny look. If you're someone who often wears a full face of makeup, a good dewy primer can also help your foundation glide on smoother and prevent it from looking cakey or dry by the end of the day, which is a huge plus when you rely on makeup for confidence. When I'm trying out a new primer for that dewy effect, I always do a patch test first – usually on a small area near my jawline – to make sure it doesn't cause any irritation or breakouts before applying it all over. It’s a little extra step but totally worth it to avoid a full-face reaction! Also, don't forget that your skincare routine underneath is just as important. A well-hydrated base from your moisturizer can make a dewy primer even more effective, allowing you to use less product and still achieve that radiant look. So, while the quest for the perfect primer for sensitive/acne-prone skin that also gives a dewy finish for dry areas can be challenging, focusing on non-comedogenic, hydrating ingredients and proper application techniques can make a huge difference. What dewy primers have you tried that actually worked for your skin?

I use the DHC velvet skin coat primer, it blurs my pores really nicely and makes my skin look super smooth, and doesn’t irritate my skin either!
