HOW TO MAKE THE BEST OF A LONG LAYOVER ✈️
1. Airport lounges: If your credit card gives you access to any lounges, you can get free food and drinks and a more comfortable area to hang out. Some lounges even offer day passes if you don’t have credit card access.
2. Explore: Speaking from experience, layovers that are over 12 hours are the perfect opportunity to explore the city that you’re stopped in. If you have the whole day to explore, most airports have luggage storage which means you can change, leave your bags, and have a little day trip. (My trip from NYC to Lagos stopped in the Azores for 21 hours overnight, I got a hotel room, signed up for an early morning 8 hour tour of the island and went back to the airport.
3. Sleeping pods: If your layover is overnight or even if you’re traveling somewhere where you’ll need to adjust to the time, most airports have sleeping pods that you can purchase. This way you can feel comfortable in your own space catching up on sleep, but not have to leave the airport.

I have a 7 hour layover in Panama on Sunday and I’ve already done a 12 hour layover there nearly two years ago. So I might get a sleeping pod if they have it.
