Either wanna hit me or hold me

Navigating the complicated feelings of being misunderstood or judged by others is a common experience many of us face. I’ve often found myself in situations where people’s opinions of me seem based more on assumptions than on who I truly am. It’s interesting how those who mistrust many still choose to place trust in me, while others who dislike me may not even know me at all. This contrast highlights how trust and dislike can sometimes be less about personal knowledge and more about deeper emotional responses or insecurities. In my own life, I’ve learned that embracing these contradictions helps build stronger emotional resilience. Rather than trying to convince everyone to see me in a certain way, focusing on nurturing relationships with those who genuinely like and love me has made the biggest difference. These experiences taught me that acceptance and understanding often come from mutual respect and open communication, rather than from trying to change others’ perceptions. Importantly, feelings of being either attacked or supported—whether to “hit” or “hold”—can reflect the intense emotional dynamics that occur in personal relationships. Recognizing this dynamic allows me to respond more thoughtfully, choosing empathy over confrontation. Ultimately, understanding that people’s reactions are rooted in their own experiences and trust issues has deepened my patience and compassion both for myself and others.
