DIY Minifig Display

I love my DIY LEGO Minifig Display so much I am planning on making a second one! This display was so easy and quick to make, here is what I used:

42 black 2×4 Lego pieces

1 Rodalm frame 16×20 from Ikea

Black Poster board from Michaels

A ruler

Hot Glue

I would love to see how tou display your Minifigs, please post your minifig displays in the comments!

... Read moreI'm so excited to share more about my DIY LEGO Minifig Display! While the original post gives you the basic steps, I wanted to dive deeper into why this display method is absolutely perfect, especially if you're looking for fantastic lego architecture display ideas or practical lego display ideas for kids. First off, for all you architecture enthusiasts, this simple frame hack is a game-changer. Imagine lining up your miniature LEGO buildings or micro-scale MOCs (My Own Creation) against a clean, black backdrop. The contrast really makes the intricate details of your LEGO Architecture sets pop! The 2x4 LEGO bricks provide a stable base, allowing you to arrange small structures, street scenes, or even a mini skyline within the frame. It transforms your collection from just toys on a shelf into a gallery-worthy art piece. I've even seen people use multiple 16x20 RÖDALM frames to create a panoramic city view – talk about an impressive display! And for the parents out there, this is truly one of the best lego display ideas for kids. We all know the struggle of scattered minifigs! This display offers a designated, visible spot for their favorite characters, making cleanup and organization so much easier and more fun. Kids can easily place and remove their minifigs, creating dynamic scenes within the frame without fear of them getting lost or damaged. It's a fantastic way to encourage them to take pride in their collection and keep their play space tidy. Plus, having their favorite superheroes or movie characters showcased on the wall is a huge motivator! It also protects their prized possessions from dust and accidental bumps, which is a win-win for everyone. Beyond the basics, here are a few extra tips I've picked up to make your display even better: Frame Variations: While the IKEA RÖDALM 16x20 frame is an amazing and affordable starting point (I grabbed mine for just $12.99!), don't limit yourself. You can experiment with different frame sizes or even deeper shadow boxes if you want to display larger minifig groups or small dioramas. Just ensure the depth is sufficient for your chosen LEGO pieces. Background Customization: Instead of just black poster board, think about using different colored paper to match your room's decor or the theme of your minifig collection. A blue background for space-themed minifigs or a grassy green for nature builds can add so much character. You could even print out a custom background like a starry sky or a city silhouette! Adding Light: For a truly professional touch, consider adding a thin strip of battery-operated LED lights around the inside edge of the frame. This subtly illuminates your minifigs and architecture sets, making them truly stand out, especially in dimmer lighting. It adds a magical glow that really brings the display to life. Extra Security: For top-heavy minifigs or if your display is in a high-traffic area, a tiny bit of museum putty on the base of the minifig's feet before attaching it to the LEGO studs can provide extra stability. It's easily removable and won't damage your LEGOs. Beyond Minifigs: Remember, these displays aren't just for minifigs! Small LEGO builds, collectible series figures, or even tiny custom creations can all find a perfect home in these frames. The consistent stud spacing makes them incredibly versatile. I hope these extra insights help you create your own amazing LEGO display! It's such a rewarding DIY project, and seeing your collection beautifully presented is just the best. Happy building!

These colorful, whimsy mushrooms are super easy to make and are so cute! I made these to put in a storefront window display, but you can totally put them around the house, sunroom or anywhere you want! I opted for pompoms for a funky feel, but you can totally paint dots on top instead. 🍄 #mushroo
