Plant rescue attempt 😖

I walk by this huge peace lily everyday, it’s way outgrown its pot and looks miserable. A co-worker and I attempted to rescue it by separating it out into 3 plants, but was a huge disaster! Praying it will feel better in a few days! #plantrescue #peacelily #plants #Hobby #obsessed

... Read moreI recently tried to rescue a huge peace lily that had clearly outgrown its pot and was looking quite miserable. My co-worker and I decided to divide the plant into three smaller ones, hoping this would give each some breathing room and encourage new growth. However, the process did not go as smoothly as we hoped—it ended up being quite the disaster! From this experience, I realized that replants and divisions need careful planning and gentle handling to avoid shocking the plant. Peace lilies, in particular, have delicate root systems that can be easily damaged during repotting or separation. It's crucial to soak the soil lightly beforehand and try to keep the roots intact as much as possible. When dividing, each new plant should have a healthy share of roots and leaves. Watering after repotting is another important factor; peace lilies prefer moist but not soggy soil. I learned to give each new pot a thorough watering and place them in indirect light to reduce stress. It’s also beneficial to avoid fertilizing immediately after division; let the plants settle in first. In my experience, patience is key. Plants often look worse right after repotting but should recover in a few days to weeks. I’m currently praying mine will bounce back soon. If you’re planning a plant rescue, especially dividing a large peace lily, make sure to prepare your pots and soil ahead of time, handle roots gently, and give the new divisions consistent but moderate water and light. Sharing this to help other plant lovers avoid the mistakes I made and enjoy the rewarding hobby of plant rescue and care.

Please update on this! I just did the same thing and one of the repotted one is droopy and a few leaves are turning yellow /: it’s been a week on ours, but I am praying that we didn’t kill it!
