Plant rescue!

... Read moreRoot rot is a common problem among houseplants, often leading to their decline if not treated promptly. Identifying root rot early is crucial; look for brown, mushy roots and yellowing leaves. To recover a plant suffering from root rot, start by removing it from its pot and gently washing the roots to eliminate any rotting material. Discard any dead roots to prevent the spread of disease. If you plan to propagate your plant, consider using Leca (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate) as a medium, which offers excellent drainage and aeration. Soak the Leca overnight before placing your plant's healthy cuttings in it. After repotting, keep the plant in a warm, humid environment with indirect sunlight to encourage recovery. Frequent misting can also help create a conducive environment. Check back in a week to assess improvement, adjust care routines, and watch your revived plant thrive again. Additionally, monitoring moisture levels is key; only water your plant when the top inch of soil or medium dries out. Overwatering is a major contributor to root rot, so establishing a consistent watering schedule is essential. Using pots with drainage holes can further prevent excess water accumulation. Engaging with a community of plant enthusiasts through forums and hashtags like #rescuedplants and #houseplants can provide motivation and additional tips for your plant care journey.

Excuse me what is leca and what does it do I bought a lily plant at Walmart and it’s leaves were turning yellow how can we help it please

I find when transitioning from soil to semi. It’s best to remove the fuzzy roots from the thicker root. I also place the roots just above the leca leaving a dry layer so the roots seek the water out.
