Can We Talk ab Skinny Shaming

#storytime #lemon8contest #letschat #realtalk #Lemon8Diary #lemon8challenge #rant #ventpost

if there’s one thing I always stress over in the summer it’s body positivity.

I think it’s natural for everyone to have their insecurities but it’s frustrating when some of my friends tell me I can’t complain bc I’m ~ skinny ~

I’ve heard enough nonsense over the years… but just like fat shaming there’s also skinny shaming

If I get one more comment on my content or some grumpy old man telling me to “go eat a cheeseburger” ima flip 😅

It’s crazy for people to not realize comments like these are just as offensive as commenting on someone being overweight. Here’s your newsflash🚨

I’ve always had a fast metabolism and struggle to put on weight so trust me when I say I eat plenty of cheeseburgers, lucky charms, pizza, and cosmic brownies 😐 I also walk nearly 5 miles at my job daily so it goes no where I wish it would

being skinny has also come with the lack of curves, boobs, booty - basically everything that makes you feel like a hot girl. def takes a toll scrolling on IG and seeing skinny girls with perfect boob jobs (surgery just seems like too much for me)

Soooooo how about we move on with our lives and stop worrying about other ppls weight. Let’s bring the kindness and compassion we all need instead☀️

Thoughts?

... Read moreIn today’s society, body shaming comes in various forms, affecting individuals of all shapes and sizes. While fat shaming is often highlighted, skinny shaming is equally harmful and perpetuates negative mental health outcomes. The relationship individuals have with their bodies is complex, influenced by personal experiences and societal pressures. Many people who are naturally thin, like those with fast metabolism, often face unsolicited comments that can undermine their self-esteem and body image. The term 'skinny shaming' refers to disparaging comments directed towards individuals who are perceived as too thin. This can manifest as jokes or casual remarks, as we've seen with comments like 'go eat a cheeseburger.' Such statements fail to recognize the person's genuine struggles and can perpetuate feelings of inadequacy. Balancing the scales of body positivity requires acknowledging these unspoken issues. It's essential for communities and social platforms to foster discussions that promote kindness and understanding while debunking myths about body weight and health. Empathizing with others regardless of their weight can create a more supportive environment for everyone. Encouraging body positivity means embracing diverse body types and recognizing that everyone's experience is valid. Many influencers and advocates are stepping up to address these topics, reminding us that kindness goes a long way when it comes to discussions about personal appearance. Let's create a culture that appreciates individuals for who they are beyond their weight, encouraging dialogue that uplifts rather than diminishes. Remember, every body is unique, and our differences should be celebrated!

SKINNY SHAMING AND FAT SHAMING

Do you think skinny shaming is real?
I wanted to share this because skinny shaming is rarely taken seriously. People think it’s “just a compliment” or a joke, but it cuts deep. I’ve been called out for my body more times than I can count, and it’s exhausting. Your size should never define your worth and no one should feel they owe exp

Is “Skinny Fat” Actually Real?
I keep hearing the term “skinny fat” and people seem split on whether it’s real or just another label we made up. Some say you can look thin but still be out of shape or unhealthy. Others think it’s just body shaming in a new form. Personally, I think it’s more about muscle vs fat, not the numb
