I'm so excited to share a little peek into my current passion project: 'Seashore,' my very own Dabi x OC fanfic! It's been a whirlwind of creativity, from diving deep into world building to sketching out cute art for key moments. If you're a fellow fanfic enthusiast, especially for Dabi pairings, you know the thrill of bringing your own stories to life. What is it about Dabi and an Original Character (OC) that captures so many hearts? For me, it's the dynamic potential. Dabi, with his complex past and intense personality, offers so much room for an OC to either challenge him, understand him, or bring out a side of him we rarely see. Creating an OC that complements Dabi without overshadowing him is key. I always think about what void my OC can fill in his narrative, or what new conflicts and emotional depth they can introduce. Are they a beacon of light, a fellow lost soul, or someone who forces him to confront his choices? These questions are crucial when developing their personality, quirks (if any!), and backstory. For 'Seashore,' my world building has been a blast. I envisioned a coastal setting, a departure from the typical urban environments often seen in the MHA universe. This allows for new scenarios, unique challenges, and a different kind of atmosphere for Dabi and my OC to interact within. I've spent hours mapping out the town, its local legends, and how the environment influences the characters' daily lives and the plot. It's not just about the landscape; it's about the unique culture and hidden dangers that a seaside location can bring to an au story. Thinking about the small details—like the sound of waves, the smell of salt in the air, or the taste of local seafood—really helps to immerse both myself and hopefully, my future readers, into the world. Beyond the setting, crafting the script for 'Seashore' involves outlining key plot points, character arcs, and dialogue that feels authentic to Dabi and my OC. I find that even for a short au story, having a solid script helps to keep the narrative tight and impactful. I try to balance intense, emotional scenes with lighter, more intimate moments to give the story a good rhythm. And of course, the 'cute art' I'm working on ties directly into visualizing these moments. Sometimes, seeing a scene sketched out helps me refine the dialogue or even discover new plot directions. It's amazing how a visual can spark new ideas for the written word! Developing a Dabi x OC story isn't just about shipping; it's about crafting a compelling narrative that respects the original character while giving the OC their own agency and development.
