Don’t Hate Me But…

I really wanted to love these, but they were a huge miss for me!

To be fair, I’m not the biggest fan of sparkling water to begin with, so keep that in mind. But here’s my honest take:

Grapefruit Tangerine – If you love grapefruit, you’ll probably enjoy this. The flavor is strong and spot on… but since I’m not a grapefruit fan, it was a no for me.

Raspberry Lemon – Same story here. If you love lemon, you might love this. But personally, it wasn’t for me.

Lime Citrus – This one was just bad. Even my husband, who will drink almost anything, couldn’t handle it.

Safe to say, I won’t be repurchasing! Have you tried these? What did you think?

... Read moreAfter reading that honest take on Recess Mood sparkling water, especially about the Grapefruit Tangerine and Lime Citrus flavors, it really got me thinking about these 'mood drinks' in general. I mean, we see them everywhere now, promising everything from focus to relaxation, and it can be hard to know what's just marketing hype and what actually works. For those who haven't tried them, Recess Mood drinks are designed to help you 'feel calm and focused' thanks to ingredients like magnesium and adaptogens such as ginseng, L-theanine, and sometimes even hemp extract or CBD. It's not just a fancy sparkling water; it's supposed to give you a little something extra to help you navigate daily stressors. While taste is super subjective – what was a 0/10 for one person might be a 10/10 for another, right? – the real question for me often is, do they actually deliver on the 'mood' part, or is it just a placebo effect? Personally, I've had a mixed bag with functional beverages. I've tried other brands that incorporate ingredients like ashwagandha or rhodiola, aiming for similar calming effects. Some truly do help me wind down after a long day, providing a subtle sense of ease, while others just taste like... well, just flavored water with a slightly earthy aftertaste. When I tried a few Recess flavors myself, like the Strawberry Rose, I found it surprisingly pleasant, a solid 7/10 for me personally. But I can definitely see how the Raspberry Lemon or even the Grapefruit Tangerine might not hit everyone's palate perfectly, especially if you're sensitive to certain tartness or artificial notes. The original review's 3/10 and 4/10 ratings make total sense for someone who isn't a sparkling water enthusiast to begin with. It truly highlights how crucial it is to read diverse reviews and manage expectations before diving in. And let's not forget the 'AVAILABLE IN POWDER' option mentioned in the images! That's a game-changer for some. The powder might offer a different flavor profile, or perhaps it's more convenient for travel and customization. I've often found that powdered versions of drinks can be less intense or allow you to control the concentration, which could potentially make a tricky flavor like Lime Citrus (which got a harsh 0/10!) more palatable. You can dilute it more, or mix it with other things. It's definitely worth considering if you're curious about the 'mood' benefits but aren't sold on the canned flavors or prefer to avoid the carbonation. My ultimate advice for anyone navigating the bustling world of functional sparkling waters like Recess Mood? Don't be afraid to experiment, but start small! Maybe grab a single can of a flavor that genuinely sounds appealing, rather than committing to a whole multi-pack. And always pay attention to the ingredients – are you specifically looking for adaptogens for stress relief, CBD for relaxation, or just a healthier, less sugary alternative to traditional sodas? Knowing what you're seeking can really guide your choices and prevent disappointment. What are your personal go-to 'mood drinks' or sparkling waters that actually deliver, both on taste and effect? I'd love to hear your recommendations and what flavors you've found to be a hit or a miss!
