College struggles 😭

Starting college is exciting but quickly reveals many unspoken struggles that aren’t covered in orientation sessions or textbooks. One thing that stood out to me was how demanding managing dorm life can be, from sharing tight spaces to dealing with noisy neighbors. Adjusting to these aspects takes patience and developing strong communication skills, which are crucial but often overlooked challenges. Another reality is the cultural experience, especially for students of color navigating college while Black. It involves finding a community, confronting stereotypes, and balancing academics with personal identity. Personally, connecting with clubs and organizations that represent my culture helped me feel supported and less isolated on campus. Then there’s the academic pressure combined with social expectations; juggling coursework, part-time jobs, and social life can be overwhelming. Many students feel this silently, which can lead to stress and burnout, so finding ways to prioritize mental health is key. I learned that making time for self-care and seeking help from campus resources made a big difference. Overall, the college experience is a mix of hilarious, frustrating, and rewarding moments. Sharing these struggles can help new students prepare better and feel less alone. If I could give one advice, it would be to embrace the messiness of college life, reach out for support, and remember that everyone is figuring it out as they go.
