what should i charge…
…if i sell this garland?
andddddd should i make more to sell and build a business with?
the lengths of the garlands in the pictures above is:
“little” - 3ft
“cutie pie” - 4ft
bow,pie,bow - 5ft
3 pie,bow - 7 ft
i could offer all lengths starting at 3 feet and moving all the way to 15 feet eventually. i would probably only stick to 3-8 feet at first.
i can also do any color the customer wants and any type of pie you could ask for!
i spent a total of $50. i do have some materials left over so i assume each project will only cost about $30-$40 to get the materials and build up my surplus.
i want to be able to make some money to put into my saving account to help better my life standard as well as my mental health.
this did take about 10 hours total to make so i just want to be compensated as best i can. i’m so new to all of this and just wanted to get some outside opinions on what is best.
THANK YOU LOTS 💕💕
Starting a handmade business can be both exciting and daunting. When pricing your garlands, it's important to consider your costs, including materials and labor. For example, if your initial investment is $50 with ongoing costs around $30-$40 per project, pricing each garland requires careful calculation to ensure profitability. Consider your time spent crafting; if it takes 10 hours to make a garland, factor that into your price. A common practice is to charge a multiple of your material costs to cover not just the materials, but also your time and overhead. You could look into local market prices for similar handmade items to gauge what customers are willing to pay. For instance, if 3ft garlands sell for $15-$25, then consider pricing accordingly based on length, design complexity, and additional customizations. Offering a range from 3 to 15 feet allows flexibility, but focusing on smaller sizes initially targets your development phase. Additionally, promoting your garlands on platforms like social media or local markets can enhance visibility. Engage with potential customers by showcasing your creativity—if a customer requests a specific color or design, ensure your pricing reflects any extra materials or complexities involved. This will help build your brand and establish a loyal customer base. Ultimately, the goal is to balance affordability for your customers while ensuring you’re compensated fairly for your work. As you delve deeper into this creative industry, keep track of feedback and adjust your pricing strategy as necessary to stay competitive and sustainable.
