Do I obviously LOVE my fupa? No. But have I accepted it? Yes. #postpartum #mombod #pcos
One year postpartum marks a significant milestone in my journey of body positivity and self-acceptance. Living with PCOS has added complexity to this experience, often making weight management and hormonal balance more challenging. My "fupa"—a term affectionately used for the lower belly area—did not become my favorite feature overnight, but learning to accept it has been a pivotal moment. In my experience, postpartum changes combined with PCOS symptoms like insulin resistance and hormonal imbalances can affect fat distribution, especially around the abdomen. It took time, patience, and a lot of self-compassion to come to terms with my body's new shape. Instead of focusing solely on what I perceived as flaws, I began appreciating my body for what it could do: nurture and grow life, recover, and keep me moving forward. I found that sharing my journey with other moms, especially those navigating postpartum life with PCOS, created a supportive community where we exchanged advice and encouragement. Gentle movement, balanced nutrition, and mental health care became my pillars of healing. Yoga and walking helped me reconnect with my body without pressure, while mindful eating supported my hormonal health. Ultimately, accepting my postpartum body was less about achieving a certain look and more about embracing my personal health and well-being. If you're on a similar path, remember that everyone's timeline and body are unique. Celebrate the small victories, be kind to yourself on tougher days, and know that acceptance is a powerful form of self-love.
