Bringing home a new puppy is such an exciting time, but let's be real, it also comes with a lot of planning – especially when it comes to potty training! I'd heard good things, and after using them myself, I can definitely say they’ve been a lifesaver. These Oscar & Olivia pads are surprisingly absorbent, which is crucial. Nobody wants to deal with leaks, especially not in the middle of the night! They also seem to do a decent job with odor control, which is a huge bonus when you're trying to keep your home smelling fresh. My strategy was to place them in a designated area, particularly near the crate where my puppy sleeps. Consistency is key, right? Every time she woke up, after playing, or after eating, I’d immediately take her to the pad. When she used it, it was a party! Lots of praise and a yummy dog treat from the treat container. Positive reinforcement works wonders! Of course, training pads are just one part of the puzzle. Beyond just potty training, having a comfortable crate has been invaluable for creating a safe space for my puppy. It’s her little den, and I lined it with a soft, comfy dog bed. This helps with house-training too, as dogs are less likely to soil their sleeping area. For those times when she needs to burn off some energy or soothe her teething gums, the Kong balls, Kong bone, and a soft lamb stuffed toy have been perfect. I even got a lick mat which is great for distracting her during quiet times or when I need her to settle down. And let's not forget meal times! A sturdy wooden food and water bowl stand, a food scooper, and a variety of dog treats are all part of the daily routine. Treats are especially useful for training, not just for potty breaks but for teaching basic commands. Soon, we'll be ready for regular walks, and I've already picked out a comfortable black retractable leash and a matching harness. It’s all about setting them up for success from day one. Patience and a well-stocked puppy arsenal really make all the difference!
