thrift v wore

... Read moreHey fellow fashion lovers! You know that feeling when you find that perfect piece at the thrift store? It's like a treasure hunt, right? My latest 'what I thrifted vs. how I wore it' post got me thinking about all the amazing ways we can embrace women's thrifted style. It's not just about saving money; it's about building a unique wardrobe that tells a story, and being more sustainable too! I've picked up so many tips over the years that have helped me transform my thrifting game. If you're looking to elevate your own thrifted style, here are some of my go-to strategies: 1. Go with an Open Mind (and a Plan!): Seriously, this is key. Sometimes you find exactly what you're looking for, but often, the best finds are unexpected. I usually have a mental list of items I need (like a new blazer or a specific type of denim), but I also allow myself to browse unique pieces. Don't be afraid to try on things that might not look like much on the hanger – that's often where the magic happens! Remember that the way you envision how I wore it can totally change a garment's perception. 2. Focus on Quality Fabrics and Construction: When you're thrifting, especially for foundational pieces, always check the labels. Natural fibers like cotton, linen, wool, and silk usually hold up better and look more expensive. Also, give seams and zippers a good once-over. A little tear can be fixed, but major damage might not be worth it. A well-made garment, even if pre-loved, will always elevate your overall women's thrifted style. 3. Think Beyond the Hanger: How Will You Wear It? This is where the 'how I wore it' part really comes into play. When I spot something promising, I immediately start picturing it with items already in my closet. Can this oversized men's sweater be belted? Will this vintage skirt pair well with my favorite boots? Having a vision helps you make smart choices and avoid impulse buys that just sit there. Don't limit yourself to just *what you thrifted*; think about its potential! 4. Don't Be Afraid of Minor Alterations: Sometimes a piece is perfect in every way except for the length or a slightly baggy fit. A good tailor can work wonders! For example, I once found a gorgeous silk slip dress that was a bit too long. A quick hem made it perfect for layering. Or maybe a pair of jeans just needs to be cropped or distressed a little to truly match your personal style. Small adjustments can make a thrifted item look custom-made. 5. Mix High and Low: The beauty of women's thrifted style is how effortlessly it blends with modern pieces. I love pairing a vintage blazer with contemporary jeans and a simple tee, or a thrifted statement necklace with a brand new dress. This creates a look that's truly unique and doesn't scream "I just shopped at a thrift store." It's all about personal expression. 6. Care for Your Finds: Once you bring your treasures home, give them some love! Wash them according to their care instructions (or dry clean if necessary). For delicate items, hand washing or a gentle cycle is best. A little steaming can also bring new life to wrinkled garments. Proper care ensures your thrifted wardrobe stays fresh and lasts longer. Thrifting has become one of my favorite ways to express my personal style and contribute to a more sustainable fashion world. It's truly rewarding to take something pre-loved and give it a new story in your wardrobe. So next time you're out, keep these tips in mind and get ready to create some amazing women's thrifted style looks of your own!

What I wore to work as a legal assistant
I never planned to go back to work as a first time mom, but life had other plans. I am almost 6 months post partum and as someone who has ALWAYS worked, I found it so hard to just sit in the house after having my baby. With that and the way this economy is set up, I had to get back to work. A fri
