What I planted in the garden this year

2024 is going to be my year for gardening.

I can’t say I have much of a green thumb but I’m a firm believer that with practice and hard work anything is possible, and I can’t say I’ve ever REALLY tried to garden. My extent on gardening goes about as far as buying a plant and expecting it to do most of the work, hence most of them dying. This year I plan on being entirely different. I’ve read, bought gardening magazines and books, watched videos YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram combined, joined tons of Facebook groups on gardening and growing flowers and even messaged back and forth with people that have much more experience gardening than I have.

So I’m basically a pro, NOT.

Although I’ve learned a lot, I know I still have much to learn and experience in the garden but I want to share my knowledge with you and take you on the journey of how exciting and satisfying gardening can be. It teaches you patience by showing you that if you wait for something you will see something truly beautiful. It has shown me how amazing our planet is and how everything has a purpose. This has made me want to be more resourceful and less wasteful it’s truly inspired me to be better.

This will be my second EVER garden at 24 years old and I am so excited! I have planted sweet peppers, green bell peppers, banana peppers, green onion, 5 varieties of tomatoes, spinach, carrots, parsnips, lettuce, radishes, green beans pole and bush varieties, zucchini, yellow squash, Brussel sprouts, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, grapes, dill, basil and onion bulbs. Flowers I have planted are dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, marigolds, sunflowers and wildflowers mixes.

... Read moreGardening is a fulfilling hobby that requires both patience and passion. Every garden, whether it’s a small balcony or a sprawling backyard, can thrive with the right care and dedication. As you start your gardening adventures, consider the importance of soil quality, sunlight, and regular watering. Choosing the right plants for your climate zone can make all the difference. Vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, and beans grow well in most regions, while flowers such as marigolds and sunflowers add beauty and attract pollinators to your garden. To enhance your gardening knowledge, numerous online resources, including forums, blogs, and tutorials, can provide expert guidance. Engaging in local gardening communities, like those on Facebook or gardening apps, can offer support and inspiration. Sharing your experiences with fellow gardeners can lead to useful advice and companionship in your gardening journey. Don't forget the environmental benefits of gardening. It’s a fantastic way to practice sustainability by growing your own food, reducing waste, and enhancing local biodiversity. Even small efforts like using compost or planting native flowers can contribute positively to your surroundings. So, whether you are a seasoned pro or just starting, always remember that gardening can be a wonderful source of joy and satisfaction!

What I planted in the Garden
Today is Harvest day and I live in zone 9b Florida. I’m still learning as I’m going, but seeing your vegetables grow is so exciting. The carrot were small but honestly they smell and taste so good. For my corn I’m going to turn that into seeds. Happy Gardening #gardening #garden #allaboutemily
